I can understand people's opinion's over the whole Northern Ireland thing, but please let the one's who want remember the dead from WW1 and WW2 do so without fear of abuse.
Whether football should be brought into it is another matter, perhaps clubs should just sell poppies outside the grounds and let the people decide....

I don't think there is any abuse directed at those who want to wear poppies. It's a personal choice. I've stated my reason for not supporting the poppy appeal and I respect the reasons of those who do support it. No one should be judged because they do or don't wear a poppy, not even Celtic FC.

I agree, but that's beside the point, the fact is that some people want to remember the lost souls of WW1 and 2.
I don't agree with Iraq/Afghanistan, I don't agree with the way the situation was handled in Northern Ireland, but im just one man, an average guy who want's to remember those people who fought alongside and put their lives on the line to ensure the likes of my grandfather survived the war.
Surely im allowed that option?
As i've already said whether we bring football clubs into the matter is a totally different subject.

To be honest mate, I didn't know they could be bought until a quick search on the net.
It is a good idea though, after all war is a terrible thing, i had grandparents on both sides during WW2, luckily both survived to tell the tales, these men were just doing the jobs they were told and believed to be right.

Worst comment ever, get a grip. We just don't do it because the soldiers would get booed at Celtic park, and that would shine a bad bad light on Celtic FC, wouldn't it? If everyone feels so Irish then why don't they follow the Irish league ffs.

the players should make the decision for themselves on whether they want to wear a poppy or not they shouldn't be forced to do it

Thing is the rangers wear these to feel they have a superior sense of brtishness and try to rub it in Irish folks face. Where as normal people wear them in respect for the people who fought in the world wars.

I think they are more British than Celtic fans , because Celtic fans are Irish, aren't they ;)? Even the fact that they fly British flags makes them more British. Our support sing of people that killed members of the British army, even though we live in Britain, so yes, Rangers are more British.

The poppy appeal is not for all allied soldiers killed in the war against the Nazis. If it was then they must have had some explaining to do when they were selling them in the 1920s.
My reasons are not sinister but I'm not going to repeat them. I already gave my reasons in the thread in the pub.

The idea of poppies dates back to the poem In Flanders' Fields about the First World War, after which the Legion was founded. The idea is that the poppies are worn from November to Remembrance Day to remember the fallen of the First World War
