It's not just for the people in Iraq or Afghanistan though is it...
It's also to remember the service men and women who lost their lives fighting the Nazi's in WW2.
It was those people who fought for the free speech and democracy that we all enjoy and take for granted.

No idea you'd have to write to Celtic and ask them. What I would say is Charity is not forced at Celtic Park, it's voluntary, and I've never known us to glorify ourselves or give ourselves a pat on the back for helping charity, it's not about a publicity stunt for the TV camera's. I'm not suggesting that's Rangers agenda but it wouldn't surprise me, given their bad press in the past 12 months.

This is ridiculous. One minute people are moaning about songs remembering fallen soldiers being sung at Celtic Park as it has nothing to do with football and then there's this. Moaning about why we didn't wear a poppy in rememberance of fallen soldiers that has nothing to do with football.
I despair. I really do.

Not only WW2, but WW1 too, even moreso, as the whole poppy thing originates from WWI and the fighting in France and Flanders in Belgium (as a result of John McCrae's poem). 11/11 is the date that marks the end of WWI
So I don't see the poppy wearing as wrong as it doesn't glorify current wars and armed combat, but pays tribute to the soldiers, who fought for freedom in WWI and WWII, although as in the UK it's also in support of soldiers fighting in NI, it loses a lot of the nobility the cause would otherwise have.
Having said that though, it still should remain a free choice and attacking someone, because they don't wear it is a low move and ignores what the movement is all about.

Just because he is a super doesn't give him the right to say comments like that.

But he didn't aim a personal insult at you. You aimed one right at him. I feel the same way as TBM does about it. Am I a moron for having an opinion?
He has EVERY right to voice his opinion on the matter. It might not be what you want to read but hey, that's the point of a debate. Look it up on Wiki.

Choosing not to wear a poppy is not wrong at all, after all that what was fought for in those far away lands, our right to freedom and the right to address our opinions.
I can understand people's opinion's over the whole Northern Ireland thing, but please let the one's who want remember the dead from WW1 and WW2 do so without fear of abuse.
Whether football should be brought into it is another matter, perhaps clubs should just sell poppies outside the grounds and let the people decide....

Even the great things that Britain has done is still over shadowed with the many terrible things they did do.
