Major instability will be caused yeah.

You'll have a lot of movement in the market with buyouts and stuff.

It's a tough one, the taxpayer won't want to pay for corporate greed but essentially it's needed or the economy will skelp rock bottom.

All those members of congress are up for re-election in November, and the bail-out is very very unpopular with the voting public, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Also this is a matter of principle for many Republicans who strongly believe in a free market with as little government interference as possible.

Anyone with a pension has a vested interest in the stock market. It's not just people who buy and sell shares who are up shit creak without a paddle.

Don't get me wrong. I used to work for Norwich Union and dealt with shares and funds daily, but money cannae just disappear. I think the Yanks are burning it for fuel.

It's not a case of money just disappearing, it's banks in the US who have been lending mortgages to people who could never hope to pay them back.

Money won't disappear, but it's value will fluctuate enormously. Having a stable economy means you don't end up paying £70 for a loaf of bread.

The whole thing is now based on fear, like that Collider thing, the Bird flu etc, the media will keep it going till people are scared enough of it.
