Icon1 Need MORE newswriters

Right, we need more newswriters and we are looking for people to demonstrate their skillz so we can better choose who will become the next Chick Young/Eamonn Dunphy (joke)

Our topic of choice is "Cuellar leaves Rangers for pastures new"

Now we know that people will have fun with this one but what we'll be looking for is formatting, grammar, style, spelling, structure i.e. the fundamentals of article writing. You can make up as much or as little as you like but its up to you to make your article stand out for the right reasons, have fun with it!

You have to reply in this thread. Any Q's, put them in here too.

Rangers star signs for villa

It has this evening been confirmed that Carlos Cuellar has made the perhaps imminent move down south to Aston Villa. After Rangers failed to qualify for Europe it seemed certain to most they would have to sell to help cut their losses. The news comes as a surprise to the manager Walter Smith but he admits ''Carlos Cuellar has been a great player for the Football Club and inevitably there has been speculation about him playing in the Premiership.'' Rangers received around 8 million pounds for the defender and will be looking to reinvest this in to the team.

Thats just too much effort.

Also, word of advice to everyone. Formatting and presentation are important. Remember that newswriters create articles that will be read by more non TC members than members. You need to make your article as easy on the eye as possible. Look at the TC news section if you need pointers.

Cuellar Signs for Villa

Today , it was confirmed Rangers' star defender and SPL player of the year last season , Carlos Cuelar has signed for English side, Aston Villa. The move comes just weeks after Rangers manager Walter Smith stated that Cuellar was staying. Although the move was probable after Rangers crashed out of Europe to Lithuanian minnows Kaunas and may have been forced by chairman , David Murray , to sell to balance the books. The fee paid by Villa to Rangers is believed to be around the region of 7.8 million. It remains to be seen if the money will be used to strenghten the team in the fight to wrestle the SPL title from current champiomns Celtic.

Carlos Cuellar, arguably the one quality player currently at Rangers football club, is set to switch Ibrox Stadium for Villa Park in a stunning swoop estimated to be worth somewhere in the region of £7.8 million.

Undoubtedly, this is the inevitable outcome of Rangers failing to make it in the Champions League as they attempt to recoup some of their losses and accomadate Walter Smith's spending spree which saw the likes of Kenny Miller and Andreas Vilicka making their respective moves over to the light blues.

Cuellar sat out of the head to head rumble with Kaunas - the first and last European battle of the season for the struggling giants - and as a result is not cup tied, so is still eligible to play in all competitions for any would be suitors which makes him an even more attractive prospect.

As can expected with a player of Cuellar's ability, many would argue that it was always going to work out like this and that a club like Rangers would never realistically be able to hold on to player of his quality for long - as has been demonstrated in the past.

Bettys Brummy Move Means More Murray Moonbeans

In another unfortunately timed piece of business by David Murray of Rangers Football Club, one of their prize assets has today been transferred to English Premiership side Aston Villa for a fee of £7.8 million.

The news that Carlos Cuellar will be linking up with Martin O'Neill comes just days after Walter Smith publicly announced that the Ibrox side do not need to sell any of their players, even after their humiliating and costly Champions League exit at the hands of Lithuanian minnows FBK Kaunas.

Rangers fans will feel aggrieved by the apparent betrayal by David Murray and suggestions of a breakdown in communications between Head Coach and Chairman only compounds the misery of the Ibrox faithful.

One fans lament on a popular message board reads: "I cannot believe what we have become under this b*stards leadership." Ominously another croons "It is time to take action, and to hell with the consequences. We simply MUST let Murray know that his tenure is no longer accepted. I call on all of you to give him it with both barrels on Saturday."

The most unsettling thing however to most Rangers supporters will be that the Scottish Football Writers Player of the Year's contract was so vulnerable to such a middling sum. How many other players have such clauses and why was Walter Smith not aware?

With Alan Hutton having departed last season, Alan Macgregor rumoured to be following Cuellar south and David Weir toiling against age, question marks remain over how well Walter Smith and his staff can steady the ship that seems so eager to sell.

arguably the ugliest beast in glasgow is on its way to aston villa. just like his teeth, carlos cueller will be making tracks, and heading to birmingham. david murray has said it feels as if hes had his legs taken away from him, and that he was 'shocked', as he looks back on a week which has seen his side be humilaited by lithuanian minnows hearts reserves.

Everything Must Go!!

After Rangers' shambolic dismissal from Europes elite tournament- The Champions League- which the club an estimated £10m Chairman Sir David Murray has sanctioned the sale of prize asset Carlos Cuellar.

The rumour mill would have it that this "Jumble Sale" at Ibrox will continue up until the close of business on 31st of August with Workhorse Kris Boyd on the radar of a few German sides. In addition to this Goalkeeper Alan McGregor is touting his services to those down south, much in line with his girlfriends line of work.

Furthermore, TC can confirm the rumours that the contents of Nacho Novo's pockets will be auctioned: it contained a letter from St Paul to the Corinthians along with a chocolate medal for effort.

Some would have it that Cuellar's exit comes from the mans ambition to mix it with the best in the English Premier League but a source close to TC has revealed exclusively that he needs to move south to be closer to the filming studios in Manchester. He is due to make a guest appearance on Corrie in which Ugly Betty gives Roy Cropper a makeover.

Rangers fans are in dissary- once again calling for heads to roll. Hotlines and forums alike are full of "Murray Out" whilst Newspapers print the infamous "Cracked Crest". Having lost Alan Hutton only 6 months ago, falling apart in their attempts for the clubs first quadruple, a missing £700m stadium, casino and hotel on top of coming to terms with the death of their season, this is a major blow to the Blue half of the city.

The only question that remain is.... when will the bookies pay out on 4 in a row??? I need to start my Christmas shopping!
