Rebel Songs ?
Whats everyones opinions on the songs that would be classed as "Rebel Songs"?
I can understand them not being sang at CP anymore, changed days I'm afraid, but does anyone listen to them in the privacy of there own homes?
Personally, I am actually a protestant, and have no sympathy for a lot of the sentiment in some of the songs, but I really love them ! Its a strange one, cause I get loads of abuse at work and stuff for going to see the bands and stuff, but I just like the music.
Anyone else??

By the way I am not looking to gauge peoples sympathy or lack thereof to any paramilitary groups or anything like that, I am merely asking about the music.
I only ask cause I was cleaning up my old PC earlier and found a rake of rebel and Celtic songs we downloaded to listen to before the Seville game, got me thinking, as I was listening to a few of them

I know what your saying mate, but realistically, when we are trying to appeal to a global market, we cant have the fans singing some of the lyrics that are in some of the songs.
I was watching some of the old Celtic games on CelticTV and me and my Dad were talking about the rebel songs and how they increased the atmosphere. I also said the removal or terracing and the decrease of capacity makes it seem less atmospheric as well.

also the prawn sandwich brigade don't help
and some of the stewards fuck them
tbh i'd rather go watch my local team pollok, standing up and singing whilst being able to shout what the hell i like, than be made to pay a small fortune to go to celtic games, sit down and be told to be quiet and to stop swearing.thats whats killing the atmosphere

Stewards can be bastards sometimes, I was at an Old Firm game about 2-3 years ago and was giving it to tight to one of the Rangers players, think it might have been Novo. Nothing over the top, just giving him a lot of "You're a wee wanker" and "Go fuck yourself" when one of the stewards asked me to sit down !!
Every cunt booed him right to fuck, then he asked to see my ticket, cause he didnt recognise my face. I was like, theres 60000 folk here mate, you cant remember everyone and told him to get to fuck !!
Power crazed wee Hitler bastard, probably a Hun !!

They dont want louts like you, singing and swearing.
Pay your money, buy the merchandise, sit there and shut up.That's the ideal scenario for some.

Thats commercialism for you mate, but I am not going to argue with it, cause its the new found global appeal that has made Celtic such a success recently. Like I said, we all hanker after a better atmosphere/

Anything is OK in your own home or in the company of exclusively like minded people. Personally, I just dont much like the core group of rebel songs Celtic fans adopted because I think they are a very unrepresentative bunch of songs nothing like the ones you hear in Ireland itself at a folk/traditional session which I love. I have also been to a couple of real out and out rebel bands in noirthern Ireland and I hated the music and the agressive vibe. Stuff like Sam song I really detest because it is just childish and makes light of killing. I have heard some superb old fasioned traditional solo sung Irish rebel songs of real musical quality in a wee country bar in bandit country. If they were all like that I would be more into them.
