The Godfather

Just finished reading the book again for the third time now, If you liked/Loved the films, honestly read the book.

First book I ever read. At the time I had no interest in reading and although I was a huge fan of the films and story, reading felt like a chore. But not this book.

Anyway, im looking out for another book to start and need some good recommendations.

I bought The Layer Cake, because I loved the film but couldnt really get into it so its gathering dust in my room.

Any great films that started out as a great book that you have read?

Alright, sold, I'm heading down to Borders on my lunch.

Cheers

P.s if you havent read The Godfather, get it. If you have then try The Sicilian by Mario Puzo (Based around the time Micheal is in Sicily, but he is only a bit character)

one flew over the cuckoos nest, trainspotting, catcher in the rye, lolita. About to read American psycho aswell, heard it's great.

The book that got me into reading was the outsiders when I was younger, read it a few times since and still love it.

To kill a mocking bird was one of the few movies to ever live up to the book.

I like Ian Rankin, not seen much of the new Rebus series on TV - but thinking of getting DVD set.

Mario Puzo is cool, Scicilian was probably better than godfather IMO.

Didn't like Lolita, just a bit too creepy for me.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest was a great debut & the movie was actually better than the book.

Stephen King movies don't generally translate as well onto film, but there have been some good ones from his short stories like Green Mile (installments) or Shawshank redemption.

first blood is a great book, the movie spoils it as stallone comes accross as more of a good guy in the film, whereas in the book he is way more of a bad ass.

funnily enough to me the first rambo is the best because it was based in the book and it actually had a meaningful plot and message, all the others are run and gun films so to speak.
