Knife means life?

Knife means life?

Maybe a bit extreme but I think anyone caught concealing a blade over a certain length, should be punished severely. Something drastic needs to be done in order to help rid our society of something that is vastly becoming out of control.

How many more people need to lose there lives before we truly get tough?

For me I would like to see the three strike rule brought in for this issue, the third strike would mean life.

This is a tough issue to solve and as you can see I believe tough action needs to be done.

I was wondering if anyone here had been touched by Knife crime?

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to combat this problem?

Well something needs to be done.. it's shocking...

My best mate Chris is a very lucky man, he saw around ten guys all hitting a girl at the Lincoln flats in Glasgow, told them to stop, and got stabbed fifteen times for his troubles. Very luckily, all major arteries were intact, so he didn't bleed to death and he is now fine, but I think it's unbelievable that people could just keep sticking a knife in you repeatedly...

Personally I think a concealed knife should be worth 5 years on jail with no parole etc. That would soon teach them.

What's more worrying.. did you watch Panorama on Tuesday on the BBC...
here's a link to it in BBC iPlayer.. Now that is scary...

That sounds truly horrific and mindless, thankfully your pal is ok. I would imagine though his scars must be quite deep both physically and mentally.

Did they catch the guy?
If yes How long did he get?

P.S. Tah for the link but unfortunately it is only available for people in the U.K.

He is ok now mate but before it he was a budding young boxer who was tipped for big things but after that he was unable to go to boxing for about a year while he recovered and ended up quitting it altogether.
The police talked to him in the hospital, he told me he could have identified the people, but he just told the police he couldn't see properly because it was dark.

p.s the documentary was just following gangs of kids aged about 12-25 in Liverpool, just the normal 'young-team' gangs, but the access to guns they had was unbelievable.. they showed the guy gins hidden in gardens, shotguns, rifles, pistols.. some kids walking about with guns were literally 12 and one kid had been shot when he was 10... unbelievable..

Caught with a blade in your pocket you get put in jail instantly. Rid the streets of the free loading scum, pay for all the new jails that will be needed with their dole money and the streets are a safer place.

I have no time at all for any person that thinks carrying a knife for any means is acceptable.

Could have lost my eye with a knife to the face, it was a wee poke and hit my cheekbone. Just at the very top of the bone, 1cm higher and my eye would have got it. Knives are as dangerous as guns but dont get punished the same. Get it sorted

The amount of folk stabbed to death and still people don't get a heavy punishment for carrying one, shocking

I couldn't agree more than Knife should mean life, although i would go further and probably upset some people. If knife crime results in death and i would add gun crime to this then life without parole!. if caught with knife as has been stated of a prescibed lenght then 5 years in prison -no time off!! get caught a 2nd time then 10 years and doubled for every continuing offence, if the scottish government and the police are serious about solving this type of crime then they want to get off their arse build more prisons and put more police on the street, and yes i know before someone points it out there is a massive recruitment for the police but in my opinion it has to be more as does the building of new prisons

This issue in London is very complex, from my knowledge it is the post code gangs (as you stated in your post)who are the main culprits of this kind of crime.

I have no idea how you go about changing the hearts and minds of these people. However your experience of seeing kids wearing knife vests is unacceptable in a supposedly 21st century tolerant society.

The past & current ideal of ploughing money into the inner cities for youth centres has been wasted. These people don’t need to be pandered too, they need discipline.
It may be a bit extreme but some of the young need to be taught proper morals. I would bring back mandatory national service for all youth. I think this would have a positive effect on all society.

I understand why he didn’t but he should have stuck the guy in. From the sound of it his talent has been tragically taken from him, where is the justice in that.

Thanks for the description of that documentary. It is getting worse not better, it is not comprehensible to me where this society seems to be heading. All we seem to do is turn a blind eye and with this politically correct mad world of which we live in it seems any difficult decision is now to be avoided.

I agree whole heartedly with your ideas, however it is a sad state of affairs for anyone to be advocating more prisons and Police on the beat. What a terrible entitlement of our society’s steady breakdown.
