from an artists perspective downloading for free is wrong but i dont care as long a i dont have to pay. prince is fuking loaded anyway, the miserable wee midget. older artists seem to have the most problems with free downloads while newer bands embrace it, radiohead allowed fans to pay whatever they wanted to downlaod their last album and coldplay allowed their last single to be downloaded for free

Did the wee Purple guy not allow his latest album to be given away for free with the Mail On Sunday, or the Sunday Express last year ?

He can, whoever owns the copyright to the material is the owner, so technically all the CDs you have in your house are on lease. Everytime a song is played the owner of the copyright is entitled to royalties. That's why bars and clubs have to pay a certain amount of money to the PRS every year.
