The name 'Celtic'
I wonder why some people find the actual name offensive/political/sectarian. Let me give you an example. I'm at university in Coleraine and we recently joined a new 5 a side indoor football league. Filling out the forms I decided to call us 'Portstewart Celtic' (for obvious reasons). I got a phonecall a few days later asking me to change the name of the team to something less "offensive". So we ended up calling the team 'Portstewart Select'. But, the point is, do members of a Protestant/Loyalist/Rangers supporting background find Celtic Football Club 'offensive' and if so, why is that?
On a further note on my new university experience I was in a lecture on Thursday and all over the desk I was sitting at was "Big Jock Knew" etc... so it seems this crap isn't just quarantined into Scotland. On a lighter note I did add the words "how to win the european cup in 1967" onto every "Big Jock Knew" scribble

In George Square in Glasgow there are two large screens attached to a building undergoing a massive renovation. The screens are used for advertising and at the moment there is a large CELTIC emblazoned across it, below in smaller writing the word Connections. The screen is advertising Celtic Connections a celebration of Celtic music. It makes me smile when I see it.
Surprised you had a phone call to ask you to change the name, you should have said that it was time to move on and suggest that as it was a seat of learning those that took offence should deal with it as bigotry is mindless. You should also have pointed out that such bigotry seen the demise of Belfast Celtic.

The Hearts fans were singing Big Jock Knew yesterday. Not enough being done to try and erradicate this imo.

I find it incredible that shite is becoming accepted fact. The SFA have got 2 take action by punishing the club(s) involved in this disgusting behaviour.

How can you expect the SFA to take action when they're staffed with Huns from top to bottom.
Won't happen, remember where you live and who runs things round our backward wee neck of the woods!

Well until recently i thought the "B.J.K" phrase was only being used by Scottish huns, it seems to be spreading like wild fire though.

I think you are reading too much in to it. In a five-a-side league it is generally better for teams not to call themselves Celtic or Rangers as there's a good chance when these teams play each other there could be trouble.
It's no big deal.

They were doing it at the Tyncaslt match earlier this season. Fuck 'em. I respect every great Scottish player and every great Scottish manager. If they want to denigrate the greatest of them all then they are stupid inbred scum.

Em then how come there was a team allowed to all wear Norn Iron football tops? If anything I find that quite offensive after the abuse dished out to Neil Lennon. You cant say its not ok for one team to bring football rivalry into things and then let a team wear those disgusting colours. Its petty but whats good for the goose should be good for gander

Erm - I don't know because you didn't mention that. Although is the university not in Northern Ireland ?
You would have a complaint if another team were called something Rangers and wore Rangers strips. But I don't think you can complain about people wearing Northern Ireland strips in Northern Ireland.

Yes the university is in the North of Ireland, but since Norn Iron tops and Rep of Ireland tops are, like Celtic and Rangers tops, another way of identifying with one side of the community, they should not be allowed. I honestly wouldn't care if another team wore Rangers/Norn Iron tops as long as we were allowed to wear our colours too. In our team we have a Protestant Rangers fan so we're hardly going to be fighting with other teams because of their teams. I'll be wearing my Celtic shirt on Tuesday and see what they say about that
