Mongrels, where you from???

Just wondering where everyone is from. Gonnae be doing my family tree this summer I think.

So far I know I have a Dutch surname (Layden) and my mum's maiden name is from Normandy (Harvey)

As for my blOOd, I have quite a lot of Irish blOOd, I have English blOOd (not much though, PHEW) and German (must be where ma blue eyes are from). The only Scottish lineage is my mum's mum family.

All my above blOOdlines are pretty recent. I feel a wee bit of pride in them but I feel 100% Scottish. It did upset me a wee bit finding out about all this blOOd from elsewhere, lessens the chances of my family fighting alongside Willy Wallace.

Anyways...

I'm from Newry City (right on the border of the North and South of Ireland). I'm not too sure where all my ancestors hail from but they're all based in Ireland and one grandad was from Dublin, the other from Dromahare (Sligo) i think

My family tree on both sides is traced as far back to the 13th century thanks to my brother and has us as Scottish. The Clan name is from Normandy though so half arrived in the 11th Century obviously. A few ancestors died at Flodden and Culloden. As pure Scottish as you can get I guess and as with the rest previously diluted with Roman and Norman DNA.

From what I know, I'm pretty much all Irish apart from my great grandmother who was from Edinburgh. Had to do a bit of family history in school and my surname originates from a clan in Sligo, but we somehow ended up in Belfast

I know my father's family are all from the Waterford area of Ireland and my grandfather's (mum's dad) family are also from Waterford but my gran's (mum's mum) family are from Sligo. My surname although associated with being extremely Irish is supposedly French by origin and the first with that name who came to Ireland came around the 14th century and that they were French Catholic noblemen. More than that I don't know but my sis wants to get into doing the family tree sometime this year so I might help out.

My surname is Irish and a relative managed to trace it back as far as it went - gypsies I believe! My paternal gran was from Glasgow.

I was born in Scotland so I always think of myself as Scottish but my parents are both from Chile and going back further up my tree my family went to Chile from Italy and Britain a few centuries ago
