Illegal downloaders 'face UK ban'
BBC NEWS | Business | Illegal downloaders 'face UK ban'
People in the UK who go online and illegally download music and films may have their internet access cut under plans the government is considering.
A draft consultation Green Paper suggests internet service providers would be required to take action over users who access pirated material.
Under a "three strikes" rule they would receive an e-mail warning, suspension, and then termination of their contract.
Six million people a year are estimated to download files illegally in the UK.
Music and film companies claim that the illegal downloads cost them millions of pounds in lost revenues.
The proposals are part of a Green Paper - a consultation document issued by the government - on the creative industries that is due to be published next week. The government proposals were first reported by the Times newspaper.

no way in the world would they be able to "ban" everyone that downloads music, film or whatever.think about it every company in britain and beyond would close as id say the downloads mostly come from people at work without there bosses knowledge
another case of bull shit from the government i think

i always thought the law was there to prevent crime, not to wait till it happens then act

There's no way they could ban everyone who downloads Movies, Music, etc. For one that there are privacy issues, what right would anyone have to intercpt a file, open it to find out it's contents, and then pass it on to you if it found to be OK. File sharing is not illeagle, it's the content of the file...
They were also suggesting that they would capture the indevidual by their IP Address, you can hide/mask your IP.
This is the Big Corporations trying to scare us all with the threat it will eventually happen. If it does, it'll be some time off. As MT says: There will always be a way...

so its technically not illegal
