minute silence or applause?

What in your opinion is more fitting for a loss? Silence imo.

Silence for me in most cases.
Applause for people who have achieved great things.

I'd normaly say mark it with a minutes silence....HOWEVER, when we are playing Hearts or Rangers I make exceptions. If we have a minute silence the bastards can ruin it, if it's a minutes applause they cant fuck it up as much.

Exactly why I feel a minutes applause would be more appropriate. Hell, no minute at all would be better than an attempted one with some Rangers fans ruining it.

I'd go with the applause, don't know- always thought it more moving because instead of mourning the loss, you're sorta appreciating their life. I've witnessed applause for a loss (not at f/ball stadiums but still) and it makes you feel really proud, it's equally if not not more moving than silence. Also the fact that I wouldn't want to risk him and his family being disrespected by any the fans during the silence, that would be just way too embarrassing and awful.
