Goalkeeping, Priced out of the market?

We're all aware of the fee Sunderland paid for Craig Gordon, whether or not he merited the price tag (£9million plus) the fact remains that he was sold for a British record fee for a keeper to a club that had just won promotion to the EPL.

Now i read that Aston Villa want to either extend Scott Carson's loan deal or look to sign him on a permanent basis. His asking price is rumoured (yes i know the dreaded 'R' word) to be £10million. Are you having a laugh? £10 million?!?!? seriously i don't think he's worth anywhere near that.


Have Sunderland/Gordon burst the bubble in terms of goalkeepers? good quality keepers are hard to find....but are we now going to see ridiculous amount of money changing hands for a keeper?

The tag price on some players down there are ridiculous (funny money), i think its just cause the keeper knows the team have that kind of money and hes trying his luck.

There is so much surplus money about the English market which means that if 2 English clubs are interested in the same keeper or are attempting to buy one from an English club then you will be paying silly money. £16.5m for Darren Bent shows it's not just keepers.

thers a simple rule i try to follow on all transfers.
if hes english and hes in the prem- he's over rated and over priced.

i think a player such a boruc, who easily steals us 15- 20 points a season and can be a huge difference in a game, is worth that kind of money.
