New Religion
For thousands of years the dominant groups in society have sought to control the masses with superstitions and religions. All basically said be nice, don't steal or bad stuff will happen. So the masses in the main bought into that and didny steal or do bad stuff.
Christianity has had a good innings (totally made up in about 300 A.D.) but its effects are waning.
The Archbishopy chappy down south said yesterday that we needed to return to christian teachings to get rid of the moral vaccuum that he says is present in our society.
I do get what he's saying, because it has worked in the past, but I think that it's past its sell by date.
So, how are the powerful going to control us all now - and I do believe that they do need to come up with something.
Is it to be war on terror, global warming, Y2K or can somebody on here come up with a new system to control behaviour.
If you can, I'll join (probably at archbishop level at first) and help you get it off the ground.
Any ideas?

Guys - step up to the plate - c'mon.
TC could create a new world order - this could be the seed.
Where are the big picture people?
Where are the visionnaries?
TC must have quite a few!

The bible is just a book which tells you how to go about in life like don't steal, don't hurt any other human's etc
Also when you pray to god it's just to give u a mental boost that believing that some religious figure is helping you reach your dreams, so why pray before going to bed ?
Anyone should pray before an exam, before any big challenge infront of you and it should give you the mental boost you need but you need to believe it from a young age but with all this Genesis stuff it's making kids not follow a religion and Genesis and Jesus are clearly not true.

Gaffney - you're supposed to make suggestions, not just bin the old stuff.
I think that a new religion (to suit tree huggers) should include all the environmentalist stuff, global warming etc., with a deity called Mahooba who cries when petrol is consumed - could that work?

Well whatever it is i think Gaffney should be the figurehead for it.Praying before exams, instead of studying is quite clearly the way to go.
And blaming Genesis for the youth of today not being religious...Well that's news to me,i always said Phil Collins was underrated but a distraction from the major religions is quite the achievement..
Gaffney for pope(or whatever)

You can be a Deacon (only cos I'm an archbishop and there's no way you get power over me when I started the debate)
Gaffney - you're in, but you're still answerable to me.
I agree that the praying instead of studying thing might work, but it needs refining.
The Phil Collins/Genesis thing - not sure that it fits, but we could run with it and see where it goes if you want.
Habeus Papam (I think - I only did Latin in second year - about 21 years ago)

Well once we agree that it's cool for the kids to like Genesis.Last thing ye want is for them to be listening to The Beatles,or Led Zep or summat...
Now if only Mike & the Mechanics were to enjoy the same kind of resurgence i think we would all get along much better. No need for Jesus at all.

...it's working for me Graham - the old 'I never got to tell my dad that I loved him till he croaked' could work in getting society to behave
Yep - keep going, liking this thought process

Am i answerable to Gaffney?beginning to have second thoughts about all of this. He's a power mad individual who would surely begin to assasinate all those above him in a bloody coup-de-etat..
I want to be under Gaffney...(not in a Graham Norton/Elton John way you understand)

??? A wee pray even while sleeping not instead you still have to study
Also when I was about 10 and all of had to go to church on the last day of school most of us never beleaved a thing about Genesis and well probably every single teenager in scotland thinks Genesis is a whole lot of rubbish which then leads them to everything in the bible is rubbish.
I don't follow any religion I follow; what I think, What I hear, read and see or just your average joe who doesn't go to church just wants to get the pay at the end of the month or week to spend on life's luxury's.
Oh and I just see a doc on Doomsday 2012 looked very weird since this is also going to happen in 2012:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...ormwarning.htm
But that shouldn't do much just lots of northern lights and some confused electricals.
