Is it wrong not to Support Scotland?

I'm a Scottish Celtic Fan and I have no passion towards the national team

For a few reasons...

Personally I think the tartan army are nothing more than drunken idiots

I think the Tartan army has a secret bigot problem which is swept under the carpet. ie. booing every catholic national anthem

And Finally...I dont like the treatment of some former Celtic players

Is that so bad?

Too some up, I usually watch international games which involve Celtic players not Scotland matches

On another point...

The blind idiots so call McGeady Judas etc, when all his family are Irish therefore he feels more Irish than Scottish...BUT of course he will also be a Judas in the tartan armys eyes

Absolutely not wrong not to support your national team. I know lots of fellow swissmen who don't support the team. I ain't the biggest supporter either by the way.

There are many reasonable reasons: I think most of us prefer the club team over the national one. there are always some bad mofos playing on the national team you really don't like - and don't want to/can't support.

I think its pretty sad that you dont want to support your country because national anthems that have been booed happened to be catholic

Just because your Scottish dosen't mean you have to follow the National Team.

Also if you don't follow the National Team it dosen't make you forget your Scottish or dosen't make you any less of a Scot!

O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
To think again.

The Hills are bare now,
And Autumn leaves
lie thick and still,
O'er land that is lost now,
Which those so dearly held,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
To think again.

Those days are past now,
And in the past
they must remain,
But we can still rise now,
And be the nation again,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
To think again.

O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
To think again.

Goodnite all

I know i could never cheer on Barry Fergiehun anyway if i was Scottish. I dont really bother too much with international football, obviously i support my country but i wouldn't be devastated if they lost. Celtic is everything to me, my country winning is just a bonus

Jonny are u deliberately trying to stir trouble? What a fucking stupid thing to say. I'm in the tartan army and most of my mates are. Catholic anthemns being booe'd? Are you just desperate to label everything? Why don't you join the BNP boys at ipox on sat if u think like that? I boo EVERY country who isnt scotland because, for that 90mins, theyre out biggest enemy.

The SFA are wanks (in relation to the anti celtic player) but how does that make us bad guys?

McGeady is a bit of a baw for wat he done but no1 really gives a shit. All the huns support northern ireland and england. I've never heard the word "fenian", ive heard neds singing "hello hello" on the way to a game but a few blokes told them to stfu.

The vast majority of real Tartan Army boys in my experience (ie the ones that go to lots of away games) are not from the Old Firm and have an anti Old Firm in general bias.

The Tartan Army is all about making friends and the only anthem that would be booed is God Save the Queen.

I love supporting Scotland because only a small percentage of my mates are Tims and it's great to get together with all my mates and cheer on my country.

The reason people (including myself) don't like McGeady is because he turned his back on the country that he was born and raised in, as both his parents had. Part of this is based around how foolish this decision is and also partly because we could do with a player of his quality in the national squad.

Jonny, unfortunately for you and for all of us it has been so long since we qualified that you are probably too young to remember what the country is like when we are in a major finals. The entire country stops. It's amazing. It's all everyone talks about, Grandma's are into talking about the game and even Chick Young's endless pish seems good quality banter.

I don't support Scotland. I used to go to Scotland games, and was at Wembley when John Robertson scored the winner from a penalty 1-0.

The reason I stopped going was listening to supporters calling Celtic players Fenian. I even witnessed Graeme Souness (before he went to Rangers) being called a Fenian for 90 mins at Kenny Dalglish's 50th cap game against Romania I think it was.

Once I got older and wiser, I read books on the SFA and the history between them and Celtic and from then I swore never to support Scotland again. For that organisation to threaten Celtic with ground closure for flying the Tricolour whilst sitting silent on Rangers strict non Catholic signing policy speaks volumes for the people running our game.

That does not make me anti-Scottish, it makes me not support a football team/organisation. There is a difference.

Regarding Aiden McGeady and the Scotland supporters who have a dislike of him, or what he did, do these same supporters have the same dislike for Nigel Quashie?

That was years ago. There has been a complete change in the Tartan Army's behaviour since they realised that behaving the opposite of England (ie not like hooligans) was the way forward.

Nigel Quashie did not turn his back on his country, his country did not want him and we did. There's a complete difference.
