Match of the Day: England v Scotland at Wembley

The crowd takes their seats and hear "God Save the Queen," over the loudspeakers.

5th Minute: Rooney takes a shot just out of the penalty area and is saved by Gordon.

10th Minute: GOAL!!!!!!! Beautiful set of passes by Scotland. Hartley to Fletcher who crosses it and McFadden bangs it in passed the keeper.

16th Minute: Beckham cross headed by Rooney glances/bounces off the left post and out.

26th Minute: GOAL!!!!!!!!!! Michael Owen for England. He was set up on the pass by Lampard and proceeded to run past the heart of the Scotland defense with ease and banged it to the left passed Gordon.

37th Minute: McNamera passes a beauty to Celtic striker Kenny Miller who proceeds to sky it over the goal.

HALF-TIME 1-1

49th Minute:YELLOW CARD - John Terry slide into Kenny Miller. Miller is down in pain but gets back up.

49th Minute: McFadden Hits the wall.

58th Minute: GOAL!!!!!! England. England had an advanced throw. It goes to David Beckham. The cross is a beauty. Gordon dives for the cross and misses it and the ball ends up with Michael Owen who proceeds to have an empty net goal.

63rd Minute: Gerrald gets the ball in the penalty area and misses the net on a golden chance to get a 2 goal lead.

67th Minute: Carrick Off. Gary Neville On.

77th Minute: Scotland has an advance free throw. It goes to Fergueson who passes it to Miller. He kicks it right at the keeper on a golden chance for Scotland to tie it back up.

88th Minute: Header by Rooney on a cross. Gordon dives and catches the ball.

The United States Manager had this to say after their matchup..

"I was proud of our team today. However, this was a home game and our performance needs to improve especially in the midfield."

Rumor has it that the US recently called up Freddy Adu might get the next start ahead of Reyna or Dempsey.

It was a proud Ireland manager who spoke at today's press conference:

"It was a superb match and we played some great football. We gave Argentina a fright but in the end we were beaten by superior class. We need to work on our technical level and try to be more mature in defence.

"I'm very proud of the lads, they done their country proud. Credit to them! Some people who predicted us getting butchered should feel a bit silly now. We have to pick ourselves up after this, and we hope to beat the USA, Holland and Spain. We still have realistic chances of going through."
