Adams to Celtic - Rambling Waffle

Adams to Celtic – Rambling Waffle

Martinez, Mowbray, Levein, McGee, Coyle and Bilic. Those are just some of the names linked with the vacant Manager’s position at Celtic Park following on from the resignation of Gordon Strachan.

All of those managers mentioned above have enjoyed success, either at League level, or on the International scene. As such, it was with a mixture of horror and disbelief when we read yesterday’s headlines linking failed ex Wycombe and Portsmouth manager, Tony Adams.

Adams: mystified as a further three points disappear.

Adams, who enjoyed great success as a player for Arsenal, stated yesterday that:

“When Celtic approached Wim (Jansen), he very kindly said that Tony Adams was the man that they needed to go and get. Celtic is an unbelievable Club; you have a 50% chance of winning up there.”

Putting to one side Adam’s rather condescending remarks – “up there” being the most notable – what did Mr Jansen have to say on the subject? Surely he would back up Adams’ remarks, stating that the Englishman was just the man for the job?

Unsurprisingly, no:

“Sure I worked with Tony in Holland, but it’s a while since we have been in contact, and I have never suggested anything about Celtic.”

Jansen - moved quickly to quash rumour.

Unqualified remarks from Adams, and further unsubstantiated rumour in the press. While Management at Celtic Park are undoubtedly working hard behind the scenes to ensure the correct appointment is made, we can all take solace that Mr Adams – with his alarmingly bad managerial record at any level – is not among the front runners.

Just Kieran
"The guy sounds desperate. Just saying to the press how people think he is great means nothing unless you actually succeed, and he hasn't."

Mmmikey
"Does he think you turn up for 38 matches, and at the end of it toss a coin with Walter Smith to see who takes the crown? This guy is clueless."
