Skippy eyeing quickfire return
Celtic striker Scott McDonald is planning on making his return from a minor groin tear this weekend as the Hoops make the trip to Fir Park to take on Motherwell in their first match since the damaging 4-2 defeat at home to Rangers in the opening Old Firm match of the season.
“Things are going well,” McDonald explained to Celtic View, in an interview for the popular magazine.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go with the Australia squad this week, but that has allowed for a better recovery time for me.
“I’ve been doing a bit of running and hopefully I can start training with the boys when they return from the international break.”
The Australia international, who missed his country’s impressive 2-1 win over Holland in Eindhoven last Saturday, has, as of yet, failed to regain the form that saw him become the first Celt to score more than 30 goals in a single season since Parkhead legend Henrik Larsson.
It’s good news for all Hoops fans that McDonald has almost completed his road to recovery, as it’s a massive few weeks ahead for Celtic both on the domestic front and in Europe, and the Champions could do with all the help they can get in the squad department.
In the space of the next three weeks, starting with that match in Motherwell on Saturday afternoon, the Hoops face seven matches - four in the SPL, two in the Champions League and one in the Co-Operative Insurance Cup.
