Mixed Pre Season Fortunes For The Hoops.
Celts Win And Lose Down South.
Celtic travelled to Craven Cottage today for a pre season friendly with Premiership side, Fulham.
Sadly the result was not the best for the massive travelling support as a sluggish Celts side lost 3-1. A Barry Robson free kick gave the fans something to cheer about even if they were 2-0 down when he struck.
The travelling support was rumoured to have out numbered their home counterparts by 6:1 and indication that the Celtic faithful are still as strong as ever. A dissapointment for the fans, is that new signing Patrick McCourt failed to impress because he didn't get the chance. The Northen Irishmen injured his hamstring a few days ago, ruling him out.
However some should keep in mind that it was only yesterday The Hoops battled with Championship side Southampton.
Infact this game was not a friendly but a testimonial for Strachans ex player Claus Lundekvam, who showed great heart by getting the whole pitch re-turfed for the occasion - out of his own pocket!
Anyway Strachan paid testiment to his old players and club by feilding a strong starting 11. Unlike today though these same 11 players came through with a 2 - 0 win.
Although the goals from Chris Killen and emerging hero Barry Robson pleased the crowd, getting a glimpse of the new Japanesse wonderkid Koki Mizuno was an added bonus.
These results shouldn't be too worrying as Celtic fans know that these games can be the complete opposite to the way the team performs when the real action kicks off.
