Celtic And The SPL Given Cash Boost.
Setanta Secure Biggest TV Deal In Scottish Football History.
The SPL have announced that they have agreed a massive £125million TV deal with Setanta Sports. A sum which makes it the biggest Scottish Football tv deal in history.
This will come as a huge boost to the 12 SPL teams and Scottish football as a whole. For many years Scottish football has needed an injection of money like this and although it does not put us on a par with the likes of the English Premier League, it is a definite step in the right direction.
Scotland is enjoying a good spell internationally and at club level. Internationally the team narrowely missed out on qualification for the European Championships and are fancied to do well in World Cup qualifying. At club level Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen flew the Scottish flag prooudly with each team progressing in their European adventures.
SPL executive chairman Lex Gold said,"This will allow clubs to re-invest to make the Scottish game even stronger". A statement which will make all Scottish football fans smile and give hope that the SPL can become a major force in Europe.
