Lawwell lays out transfer plans!!
Lawwell lays out transfer plans!!
Celtic’s commander in chief Peter Lawwell released a statement of intent today, assuring, the faithful that Celtic, is in hot pursuit of new talent. He also expressed his and Gordon Strachan’s desire to strengthen an already strong squad to help solidify Celtic’s position at the top of Scottish football. Lawwell said.
“I can assure Celtic supporters that we are working hard once again to strengthen the squad for the coming season,”
“Clearly, we have a squad of high-quality, talented players at the club and we were delighted that this team worked so hard to lift the club's third championship in a row.
The usual silly season has arrived with its usual vengeance. Persistant press speculation linking what seems like a new name everyday with an imminent move to paradise, have been scorched by Lawwell, as somewhat misleading speculation. He said.
“As is the case in every close season, particularly with Celtic, press speculation has linked many names with the club.
“While the club chooses to conduct its business quietly and in private, there is very little we can do about this speculation.
“However, it should be said that there have been numerous players mentioned who have never interested the club and who we have had absolutely no contact with.
“We have only made two bids for players, one of which was accepted for Patrick McCourt. Any other claims that we have made bids for other players are nonsense. Clearly, we do have our own real targets and we are working to secure these.
“Celtic supporters can rest assured that the Celtic board, as it has done in recent seasons, will continue to support the manager as we try to retain our championship and once again aim to make an impact in the Champions League.”
It seems from Lawwell´s comments that any transfer dealings will be conducted privately and not through the press. Celtic supporters will be secured in the knowledge though, that when Lawwell lays out his plans, he delivers on them.
