Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

Gordon Strachan has made his first official move in the transfer market with a £2million bid for Maciej Zurawski of Wisla Krakow.

The Polish striker is in top form and has already stated in the media he would love to move to the Scottish giants.

And Wisla President Janusz Basalaj said earlier today: "We have just received an official offer from the Scottish club.

"Celtic has presented their proposal and we have launched negotiations."

Strachan has had Zurawski watched and is hopeful of getting the player on board quickly.

But Celtic fans will be concerned that this might mean a move for Welshman Craig Bellamy is becoming more and more unlikely.

Newcastle want at least £5million for the unsettled striker although Celtic aren't prepared to match that valuation.

Meanwhile, defender Joos Valgaeran has signed for FC Brugge on a free after his contract expired.

The Belgian will be returning to his homeland after Martin O'Neill brought him to Glasgow 5 years ago.

Neil Lennon though is going nowhere after agreeing to sign a one year deal which will probably see the Northern Irishman into retirement.

Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

Hi!

I'm one of wisla krakow fan, and like everyone in Krakow we are interested ,where our maciej zurawski will play in next season.

Like you maybe know, there are another clubs that want to have zurawski in squad: Trabsonspor, and Austria Vienna. The reason why he isnt trabsonspor player is ... money. Wisla demands 3 mln euro and that is final price.

You must know that, he is the best striker in polish league, and propably best polish player at whole. He prefers offensive type of play (its really nice to watch it) and i think he will fit in celtic. In last season he scored 24 goals for wisla, and he has more than 100 goals in polish league.

So, if he will be a celtic player, just give him some time and you will see that hes worth more than 3mln. I belive that he could be best celtic scorer in next season.

If you want to more know about zurawski, just ask, i will try to answer.

Zurawski does perform on the European stage. He is one of the leading scorers in the WC qualifiers. He has scored against NT likes England and teams like Lazio, Parma and Schalke in the UEFA Cup.

Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

In last season wisla didnt play in champion league, and the reason was .... real madrid, which eliminates wisla in qualifications.

And thats the reason why he want to leave wisla, he's ambitious, want to show how good he is, and want to play in champions league, of course wisla could play in this round in CL but he dont want to wait and waste another year in poland.

In 2003 Wisla played well in UEFA cup, we eliminated parma, schalke, and ... almost lazio. In whole this games zurawski was key player and absoultely wisla score-leader. He scores almost in every game, and ridicule italian defensors. You schuold see him in those games...
There were rummors that parma and lazio wanted him, but nothing happend.

PS. like u maybe know he score against england and wales, he has 4 (or 5) goals is world cup qualifications.

He sounds like a quality player. Maybe him and Bellars up front would form a wonder partnership, but who knows? We might not get either of them. Looking forward to hearing more about Zurawski.

Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

can Celtic afford to spend 3 MIL euro for Zurawski? Because that is what Wisla is demanding for him... because from what i have read, Celtic have made an offer but it didnt specify the amount of the offer....
i would much rather have Zurawski go to a big name club like Celtic with a lot of tradition etc. than some Turk dump in Trabzonspor

How is his name pronounced?

Sounds like a great player and hopefully he will be able to form a great partnership with Bellers next year and torment defences.

Artur Boruc is only 25
and he is number two goalkeeper in Polish NT after Jerzy Dudek

he is thought to be the best goalkeeper in polish league
although Legia Warszawa was third in this season
he had the best result among goalkeepers - only 19 goals lost

for the love of god , zurawski is sniper, not goal keeper.

Dont ask about how pronounce "zurawski", you will propably have difficulties to say it correctly :)

And what about Boruc... hard to say something more about him, he's quite young, tall, self-confident, and maybe a little cocky. but hes also quite good keeper, hes not superstar in poland, like zurawski is, but someday he could be our national team keeper.

If you wanna see some his goals, visit this site: http://norwid.waw.pl/~ghost/wisla/index.php?rozgrywki=lp

I think
right now
the question here in Warsaw souds like - Legia or Celtic?

After his last match with Groclin in Polish Cup (Legia lost in penalties) Boruc exchanged a few words with Gordon Strachan (but there were only jokes, as Artur said)

I've heard that the price for Boruc is 1,5 mln euro
