Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

from soccernet.com

Hoops target Zurawski a wanted man Celtic manager Gordon Strachan was today warned he faces a race against the clock to sign transfer target Maciej Zurawski. The Polish striker's UK-based agent Raymond Sparkes claims Strachan must move swiftly to tie up a deal for Zurawski or lose out.

Zurawski has revealed he will arrive in Glasgow for talks on Monday, with a fee of £2million having already been agreed with his club, Wisla Krakow. Turkish outfit Trabzonspor are also keen to sign the 28-year-old, however, and are expected to make strong overtures in the next few days. The planned deal for Zurawski would be Strachan's first since succeeding Martin O'Neill at Celtic Park, but Sparkes warned: 'Trabzonspor are very, very serious about him. 'They signed another Pole, Miroslaw Szymkowiak, and he has done so well that Juventus are interested in him. 'Now the Turks want to go back to Poland and take the next gold nugget. 'Celtic are in the situation where they have to beat the Turks to the punch. 'Gordon Strachan has already reacted quickly and one advantage is they have is that the player wants to move to the west. 'But I am only the player's agent in the UK. He also has representatives in Italy, Germany and Russia and they will be saying to the big clubs there that Celtic have made their move. 'I would worry if an Italian or German team came in. They have the money and can provide a lifestyle that is attractive.' Austria Vienna are also keen, as are a Russian club who Sparkes believes to be cash-rich UEFA Cup holders CSKA Moscow. Sparkes, who represents 10 other Polish players, is convinced Zurawski's price tag represents the best value deal for an established goalscorer with a top European nation. He said: 'He has scored 120 goals in 238 league games as well as 40 cup goals, which is a better than one-in-two ratio. 'He scored against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu stadium in the Champions League and also in World Cup qualifiers against England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 'They [Poland] are currently top of that group and although I would expect England to win the group in the end, Poland are currently ranked as the 25th best nation in the world, which is some 60 places ahead of Scotland. 'Zurawski is arguably the highest level striker available at the moment for the least money. 'Previously, work permits were an issue with signing Poles but that is no longer the case now they are in the European Union.' With Scotland international Robert Douglas having left for Leicester, Strachan knows he needs a top-class goalkeeper. Goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who is at Legia Warsaw and also represented by Sparkes, is in his sights. Sparkes said: 'Gordon likes him but while he is on his radar others are too. 'It is a question of who stays on it, with the last man standing getting the contract. 'I have made everybody in England know he is available and there is a Premiership club monitoring him.' One man who will be wearing a Hoops shirt next season is midfielder Neil Lennon. The 33-year-old has agreed a new one-year deal, which he will sign once he returns from holiday.

Zurawski is really very good player,i would be very happy if Celtic buy him.
Boruc is a good goalkeeper, he is playing in Legia Warsaw (i don“t like this club,i am Widzew Lodz fan) but i have sympathy for him,i think he os good enough to play in Glasgow. In 2-3 years he should be polish fisrt keepen in our team and i think he can be more succesfull than Dudek in Liverpool.
I am new here, have to say the site is really great. Much better than official Celtic site.

There, please, find "Zurawski", click and you'll see all the important statistics. Look carefully - at the number of goals, assists (or last passes , whatever you call them) and so on.

Good news - it's in English

Bearing in mind he doesnt have players like Petrov setting him up now and then, I think he will do a great job for Celtic. Maybe he could fill the void left by Larsson :).

I'm Wisla fan but I hope Zurawski will move to Celtic. He is simply too good for our league. He's also two times cheaper and two times better than Bellamy. If you saw the match with Wales and a great goal you would also say so.

Look at the number of their posts. We've just registered to make campaign for our compatriot :) But honestly, good players sometimes play good when they change club, and sometimes not. But Celtic owners, manager and fans should give him a try. Because he's inteligent guy, just like you :)

Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

Just to make it clear.
Every year numerous players leave our club, they go abroad, join foreign clubs. We do not usually come in crowds to talk about new signings. This forum seems to be the first one (unlucky, let's name it) that has drawn so many people from Krakow.

The reasons? Firstly, the best Polish player of the last decade is leaving us. Secondly, the best Polish player is leaving for such a club !!! It's not just any player. It's Zurawski. It's not just a new club. It's Celtic! Do you get what I mean?

I'm ashamed myself of being here so often these days, taking advantage of your hospitality - but I just can't help it. It's beyond me. I come here to share what I know with you and learn from you as well. It's not easy to pretend one is not excited. I am. Please, accept the apology.

Re: Celtic bid £2million for Zurawski

HI Everybody!!
I am from Poland, and I am supporter of WISŁA KRAKÓW;).And I was generally interested what fans of Celtic thinks about Maciej Żurawski...;)). If I can write something, is that, you will have a lot of fun from his playing!!!BELIEVE ME!Of course if Celtic will buy him;))Maybe not from the first match, but I think, that with every match he will play better. He is very good player, he can score with both legs without any problems and he is very good technic. What more I can write...He is the best player in our league.I am sure, that You have to heard about him when WISŁA played with Parma,Schalke and Lazio etc.in Uefa Cup,that you heard about his scores in matches with Ireland,Wales, England in last qualifications to World Championship. Really,he is very ambitious, and I am sure, that You and Mr Strachan;) will not regret!!!I believe that all fan`s will accepted him as fast as it is possible.
P.S.
You have quite good site.
