GLASGOW RANGERS-ORIGINS?

I absolutely detest Rangers and everything they stand for, it gives me so much pleasure to see them getting humped, even more that seeing Engerland getting humped!..(I would support any other Scottishh team in Europe except huns) I will never forget that magical month when ZENIT and CELTIC pumped them for two trophies. Anyway i was wondering, does anyone know the origins of where they came up with the name 'Rangers', its sounds so bloody silly, like the guys who police the parks in CaNADA ETC.

The four founders of Rangers - brothers Moses and Peter McNeil, Peter Campbell and William McBeath - met in 1872 and named their team after an English rugby club upon seeing the name in a book.

Wikipedia is amazing eh
