Help Please??

I am also a member of a football forum that is mainly English.
In one of the threads in there, I queried Everton fans singing "Its a grand old team" at their cup game against Man u - I got the reply that we had pinched it from them & that they had originally sung it at the 1933 FA cup final, I find hard to believe that we pinched this, but my own personal recollections only go back to the early 1960s (when I first heard it as a kid). I have tried to find out the history of the song - so far without success. Can anyone shed any light on the matter - I would hate to have the Everton fans think that we had taken anything of theirs.

Dunno mate but I hear a few English clubs claiming to have started the huddle and singing the fields of athenry with alternative lyrics. Pure pish.
