AFL

Any Aussie Rules fans out there? Always enjoyed watching the footy, but I lived in Oz for a while and now I'm a convert. I follow the Sydney Swans.

Mental! That's quality, Barry Hall's a fuckin legend.
Thankfully Setanta provide ample coverage of AFL. If you don't have Setanta, Eurosport show some highlights.
Watched Swans vs Collingwood yesterday, Magpies won by 29 points. Swannies didn't get it together til the 4th quarter and threatened a comeback, but their poor kicking and Collingwood's excellent marks cost them in the end. The surface at the ANZ was shocking to be fair.

I do miss going to the Swan games, it was always a good atmosphere and very friendly, even with the other supporters, not like football here. Was always into 'soccer', but all my mates were aussies, they converted me into an AFL fan, but also i did like my NRL as well, saturday was AFL day and sunday was my NRL day so i became a Swans fan and a St. George fan for my sins. I might be back in Sydney by this time next year, to go and follow the Swans again.

If things go to plan I'll be headin back out myself, absolutely loved it out there. Went to see the Swans play Port Adelaide at the SCG there in March, brilliant day out. They let everyone on to the pitch at the end of the game for a kickabout, some craic.
I followed the Rabbitohs in the NRL, lived in Marrickville and worked in Erskineville, proper Rabbitohs territory. It's a shame they're shite though.

I lived in Enmore for years, used to do my shopping in the Marrickville centre, used to go for a kick about at Erskinville oval, got pissed most nights in the Townie in Newtown, and worked for years at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, used to go to the Enmore theatre for gigs, well in was only 30 seconds away from my home.

Ah the Marrickville Metro, was a regular customer in Liquorland . Funny, I never drank in the Townie, only went to the Bank on a couple of occasions, but loved the rooftop terrace in the Zanzibar. Would've roasted you up there though on a good day. Wouldn't mind gettin the dome baked aff me now when I look out the window at the pissin rain.

The Bank was the first pub i drank in when i lived in that area, years ago before it was refurbished and had that new roof terrace. I remember it was a wednesday night in the bank, and was sitting in there with a few female friends we had been drinking all day, and it was full of women i was the only guy in the place, it was hoaching of fanny. As pissed as i was i was getting nowhere with some of the women, it wasent until i left saying to my friends that those women are all frigid, then they told me,' well it is the lesbian night ' never went back on a wednesday night after that. also used to pop into Kelly's for a pint of Killkenny.

We all used to go in to the Sly Fox most Friday nights for the Karaoke, some craic, rammed with Lesbos. My mate got a fright one night when one of the (male) bouncers proposisitoned him. Let's just say we soon found somewhere else to continue drinking.......
Went to Kelly's myself on a few occasions. An Irish bar with no Plastic Paddys and Harp on tap! Fuckin top notch.
