Cheltenham Festival Day 3 Selections

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 Review

I guess you could say that was one of my better days at Cheltenham, never lost a penny ! Anyway following the abandonment of racing today, seems we could be in for two bumper days. Onwards and forwards to Day 3 then:

12.30 The Peter O Sullivan

Brilliant thinking in getting this out and done dusted first thing, 4 miles, amateur riders, stamina test, lets get it out the way. Selection from yesterday stands, Beantown at 10/1 to get a marathon day off to a good start

1.05 Sun Alliance Chase

Again, the lady in the race will look after me here as per yesterdays selection, Pomme Tiepy at about 5/1

1.40 Novice Handicap Chase

I think Betfred have gone out on a limb here in offering 8/1 Mr Strachan. Struggled over 3 miles earlier in the season, this 2½ is ideal and great form over ground with a bit of give in it. Mr Strachan gets my vote given he didn't look very novicy last time out at Newbury

2.20 QM Champion Chase

Banker material here in Master Minded and only has to turn up to win in my opinion. Class act when destroying Voy Pur Ustedes when 6 pounds worse off and with Voy Pur to find 5 lengths on Master Minded, I fail to see how Voy Pur can be classed favourite by many. Master Minded turns up on time and he'll win, he'll win big and he'll win by a distance. Half the field will still be out on the racecourse by the time the presentations have been made to connections of Master Minded. Nuff said.

2.55 Ryanair Chase

Actually not a bad race this if only the 9 go to post as expected. The Listener has good claims as does Paul Nicholls' Turko. But I'm for Our Vic with Timmy Murphy on top. As I recall from his Kempton race, he was well up with the pace and only Kauto Star beat him that day. I managed to get 4/1 for Our Vic but will expect to see that tumble down towards the 10/3 or even 3/1 by the time they set off on there 2 ½ mile journey.

3.30 World Hurdle

Anything gets to within 10 lengths of Inglis Drever I'll be amazed. Blazing Baily may well have youth on his side being only a 6 year old and is a decent animal although in a different class to Inglis. Hardy Eustace at 11 year old, cant see it although would bring a tear to many an eye if he did heave himself up the hill in contention. Witchita Lineman, My Way de Solzen and Kasbah Bliss all fighting for 2nd place really and Inglis Drever to win at any odds you can get – current 6/5 which is akin to picking money up from the floor in my book. Jockey Denis O Regan will be changed and ready for the next race by the time half of this field have finished.

4.05 Racing Post Plate – The Mildmay of Flete to give it its proper name.

Tony McCoy jumps aboard Don't Push It which has been off the track since October when winning well at Chepstow. Not a confident pick (trading at 7/2) but then there is nothing else really worth looking at. Oedipe may well run a big race – again, off the track a while, but looked the real deal until a leg injury stopped progress they say, so Oedipe at 12's might find a slot on my each way acca.

4.40 The Pertemps

Pins out and close your eyes as 24 go to post here in a competitive handicap. Robert Alners Miko de Beauchene gets my nod, improving this term, handicapper has treated this quite well and at 7/1 is likely to be in the mix.

5.15 The Kim Muir

I have been following Ma Yahab all season and has done me well so I'm not going to desert him now. I think 10/1 is a fair price and with 24 going to the start line, would feel confident of getting an line up on my each way acca

5.50 Champion Bumper

Staying with yesterdays selection Big Earned Fran with AP McCoy on top to complete a marathon day. Currently anything between 13/2 and 10/1 for this one.

There you go then 10 winners in 1 day at Cheltenham Festival, cant be bad can it. Happy Punting everybody, dont go chasing you losses, not that you'll have any if you back the 10 selections above ! Back tomorrow with more words of wisdom.
