Cheltenham Festival Day 2 Selections
Cheltenham Day 1 Review
Question: What do the following numbers have in common: 18, 3, 10, 5, 11 and 12 ?
Answer: They were the placings of our 6 selections on Day 1 of the Festival.
What I love about Cheltenham is that it's over 4 days, so although its William Hill 1, Me 0, there is plenty time to go. So here we go for Day 2
2.00 Ballymore Hurdle
With form figures of 1121, I am liking Forpadydeplasterer at 9/2. Beat the highly rated Cork All Star last time at Leopardstown and has an obvious chance
2.35 Sun Alliance Chase
I would like to give Silverburn a chance to redeem himself – another to let me down badly at Kempton in December, but 13/2 I find is not much value and I'd be looking closer to 9 or 10/1 before a small investment would be forthcoming. So instead, lets hear it for the ladies and the mare Pomme Tiepy has won her last 4 in Ireland the last of which was a decent Grade 2 (won impressive by all accounts). A sex and age weight allowance, means carrying Ruby Walsh's 10 stone 9 will be a breeze for our selection – 11/2 at the moment.
3.15 QM Champion Chase
Master Minded is another with banker stamped all over it. Beat Voy Pur Ustedes easily by 5 lengths last time (6 pounds worse off that day). Master Minded be as well just turn up to win. Tamarinbleu has a shout but 2 miles may be a bit stiff. Master Minded at 5/2, banker, nuff said.
4.00 Coral Cup
28 to post and I'm liking Peacock at 20/1 here. Sound at Ascot last time. Jumps well, decent mark carrying Paddy Brennen 10-13, 20/1 each way a place first 4 (possibly 5 depends on bookmaker), seems a good bet
4.40 Peter O Sullivan
They could have given the great man a better race than this, 20 amateurs to cover 4 miles of ground classed Good to Soft and by the time it comes to race 5 of the day, will be a mud heap, it beggars belief. Anyway Pass it On makes the short-list on account of the stamina test this is sure to be, but preference is for last years 2nd Beantown. Decent in Point to Point, just missed out last term when 40/1, good form this term and has good shouts at 10/1
5.20 Champion Bumper
Big Earned Fran won handily at Sandown last time with the nearest being 8 lengths away that day. Interesting that AP McCoy chose to ride this, 8/1 got to be worth a tickle.
A tough day ahead, enjoy Master Minded's demolition of the field in the QM Champion Chase, it'll be spectacular. Back tomorrow and Happy Punting everybody and only bet what you can afford to lose.
