I think Sadaharu Oh and his 868 HR's in the Japanese NPB might disagree.

There are 9 players to a side.
Each team bats 9 times per game (the 2 sides alternate batting and the home team bats 2nd, so they don't bat in the last inning if they are winning)
During every inning, the team bats until they make 3 outs.
The batter gets 4 balls and 3 strikes. 3 strikes makes an out and 4 balls allows the batter to go to first base.
There are 4 bases (shaped like a diamond) and you have to round the bases to score a run.
A ball thrown inside the strike zone is considered a strike (To understand the strike zone, you'd probably have to look it up on Wikipedia). A ball thrown outside this area is considered a ball. If the ball is hit, but goes into foul territory (the area outside 1st and 3rd bases), it's a strike, but foul balls don't count as thirds strikes.
Hopefully this explains the basics.

Outs also include fielders catching a ball before it hits the ground, tagging a base before the runner gets to it or tagging the player whilst the player runs to base. Possible to get more than one out i a single play.
Think foul bunts count as third strikes?
In short it's a bloody complicated game of rounders.

lol yankees? They couldnt bat for bat beat us. They would have to rely on their traditional bad pitching in playoffs.
And I doubt that. But I dont blame you since you probably just support them since everyone and their mother wears a yankees hat :D

All credit to both Philadelphia and the Yankees for staging tremendous comebacks to make the playoffs.
To be fair as an outsider looking in the American League teams are clearly the stronger teams.
