Quite simple really...I think

You score runs by running between the wickets

If you hit the ball beyond the boundary it's 4 runs

If you hit the ball beyond the boundary without it touching the ground it's 6 runs

and...

Each team has 10 batsmen, or 10 wickets.

So, if the score is 230 for 5....that means that the team has scored 230 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

There are also things called "overs". I think 1 over equates to 6 bowls for the fielding team and after 1 over the bowler takes up a fielding position and a new one comes in and the batsmen swap ends.

Yeah that's right, so if a bowler has 3 for 30 from 6 overs with 1 maiden it means...

He's taken 3 wickets for the loss of 30 runs after 6 overs (or 36 deliveries) and a maiden is an over during which no runs were scored.

I can't stand the game. Boring as fuck if you're watching it on TV. I'll just stick to my football.

Cricket is very complicated! I only know the basic of the basics, ie that a century means the batsman's scored 100 runs. It's quite a relaxing sport to watch though.

During a test match, you sit all day in the sunshine getting pissed with yer mates.

Sounds like a fecking great spectator sport.

I quite like watching it, especially when England are getting humiliated........again.

Hahaha, that sounds fantastic!!

I also remember in the Ashes when England won and they kept going on about bad light and the Aussies came out with sun glasses on and the England fans put their umbrellas up. It's nice to see that kind of stuff.

My dad and brother support England (wtf?) so I was delighted when Australia hammered them in the last Ashes

The aussies are probably the only other nation on earth who take as much pleasure at scudding the english as we do.

Sorry to hear about yer da and bro, whats that all about?

The problem with England is that they think they have a divine right to win at cricket coz they invented it, but they don't have the bottle.

Yeah they think that about football too, don't they?

I've got no idea why dad and neil support engurland at cricket. They definately don't support them at football or rugby so it all seems a bit strange to me! They both support English footie teams so maybe that's got something to do with it (although my dad is a Celtic fan too).

Anyway, back to cricket. What's with cricket players winning Strictly Come Dancing?!??

Hmmmmm.....Sorry, but I'm not going to get drawn into a discussion on Strictly Come Dancing

Cricket gets a bad press in Scotland, but it's actually quite a good game. The main problem is that test matches don't make for great telly. But the limited overs stuff like the ODI and 20/20 are more exciting.
