Hi there, I've just recently joined the site and already received a warm welcome following my first few posts. A true Celtic welcome I would call it! But I thought I would post on this thread to tell you something of my Celtic history. I've been a supporter for around the last 28 years. Back in the early eighties I used to go to every Celtic home game and a number of away games too. I always seemed to have a good record in the Old Firm matches I went to: we hardly ever lost! In fact I don't think I ever saw Celtic lose to the Huns at home. Some of my favourite experiences from following the Bhoys are as follows (in no particular order):
1. Celtic - 5 v Sporting Lisbon - 0 in the 1983/84 UEFA Cup (we were awesome on this night, coming back from a 2-0 away first leg defeat in spectacular fashion). How sad it was that a potentially wonderful European campaign was ruined by those Austrian cheats otherwise known as Rapid Vienna. I went to the home game as well as the replay at Old Trafford. One my biggest letdowns as a Celtic supporter that, although it was made up for when Celtic got to the UEFA Cup Final the season before last.
2. Celtic - 2 v Rangers -1 in the League Cup Final played on 4 December, 1982 (as you can tell by the exact dating this one is still a vivid memory for me! Celtic were 2-0 up at half-time and cruising. In fact if we had been more ruthless I think we could have murdered the Huns that day). I was at the Celtic End where it was uncovered and it was pissing down with rain but we didn't care. Talk about singing in the rain! Charlie 'The Cannonball Kid' and Murdo McLeod scored on that day.
3. Celtic -2 v Dundee United -1 in the Scottish Cup Final of 1985. Really exciting finale to this one with Celtic coming back from 1-0 down with around ten minutes to go with Davie Provan scoring a great free kick and then Frank McGarvey winning the cup for us with a diving header.
