Greetings from Yankland
Am new to the Celtic boards, but hope to be here quite often. Yesterday saw the Celtic-DC United match, and am a wee bit disgruntled. Why? Because in a week you play my team, the New England Revolution, and I'd hoped Celtic would be approaching that match in a carefree and naive way. Now that DC woke you up so harshly, I doubt the Hoops will be unmotivated against us....That said, New England is a good team, watch for players such as Joseph, Dempsey, Noonan, and Twellman, and am looking forward to what should be a cracker.
Cheers.
By the way, I love the smilies on this board

Theres nothing for you to worry about, Chivas will run us into the ground, and by the time we play your team, we will be really knackered.
Also we dont have the quality your team has, at the moment, so if we even get a goal that will be an achievement.

This is Chivas of Guadalajara, the Mexican [not LA] club. They run nobody into the ground . Mexican sides usually go for a slow, short passing, build-up, and only occasionally seek quick counters and the longball. Their pace should be easier for preseason legs to adjust to, and New Jersey should be cooler than it was in DC. That said, Chivas is a very very proud Mexican side, and can play quite harshly. It is just as well that Miller can take a day of rest, then . But watch out for the field, no one enjoys playing on that green concrete that passes for "grass"....
But, promise, Kraft Field, where New England plays, is velvety green.

I am well aware of Chivas, which means by the way, goats in Spanish, over the years I have seen the Mexican league play, my team because of the jerseys was Santos Laguna, Chivas will run Celtic into the ground, because the present Celtic squad will be chasing shadows, and I as said are already knacketred.

Thanks, and thanks to all for the thoughts. As for Hubert's Gloom, it is at least preseason and maybe, one can hope, it is more shade than gloom right now?
As for Chivas, it is a quality side. But the remark I made on its style are valid. Its style is definitely more one of control and buildup, more close passing and slowly paced, than that of DC United. It is a more predictable side, and one that should stress less any tiredness present with the Hoops [but I'm curious, other than being in preseason is there another reason why the team should be "knackered"??]. The players are quite quick, and react well, so their passing game can be frustrating for those unused to facing it [Hubert, I think, was referring to this in his comment]. And they definitely can be a harsh side, making full use of professional fouls, etc... , not that they should in a friendly, but then who knows? It may be a very interesting clash of styles, in this match.
As for my beloved New England, managed by Steve Nicol, no less, I'll save talk until after the Chivas experience.
Good luck!

I notice people refer to me as doom and gloom, well I go on here and other forums and hear a lot more critique about the team and GS than I do, hell even players make comments that are not complimentary.
Celtic started off poorly getting gubbed 5-0 in the CL, and before that getting clobbered in the USA tournament, also a dismal 4-4 tie in our first league game I think?
We amazingly had to compliment GS and Celtic for we won the SPL easily, and the league cup, no bad I would say considering the poor start!
Now this season you would think Celtic would be looking in good shape, and starting where we left off, well this is not the case, to me and many others it looks like Celtic could be facing a very tough upcoming season, things do not look good.
We have played three friendlies failing to score in any of those games?
We have the upcoming CL to contend with, and our team really looks worse than it was before last season, Rangers have a prolific goalscorer Boyd in their team, a new manager/coach and are proceeding to add to yes a poor squad last season, yet at the end of the season had notably improved.
Hearts have not signed yet, but they have money backing, and more or less a new manager/coach, its my belief that with that combination, they will be up for the SPL next season.
My thoughts are not doom and gloom for the sake of it, but I would like someone to show me how we are going to do well in the CL, and the SPL, with the present squad thats at Celtic I will continue to tell it like it is, whether its perceived incorrectly as gloom and doom or not!
