For me I always wanted Mark De Vries to come to Celtic when he was Hearts. Always thought he wouldv been a great striker for us, good goalscorer & had a good physical presence & good in the air aswel, for me Celtic missed out on a good striker, even when he went to Dundee Utd he still looked decent, wouldv been a better option than Chris Killen anyway I thought..

Anyway what player do you think Celtic missed out on & why?

As painful as it was, I've just sat through the highlights of the 3-1 defeat to Sion in the Europa League qualifiers last year. I don't even know why myself. I just stumbled across it, whilst looking through Celtic videos.

But it did get me thinking; how far do you really think we've come as a unit since then? Obviously, we all know what happened in the aftermath of that game, with Sion being disqualified for fielding ineligible players and ourselves getting a free run in the group stages as a result, where we made a good account of ourselves, in arguably the hardest group in the whole competition.

Udinese, Atletico Madrid and Rennes could easily have passed for a semi-decent CL group and overall, we only lost two games out of six, both to the future winners of the entire thing.

With another round of Champions League and potential Europa League qualifiers just around the corner in a couple of months time, it should be interesting to see just how much people think we have improved in the past eight months and whether or not we are ready to once again mingle with the best of them, something we haven't really been able to achieve since the days of Strachan.

I would like to gauge the opinion over if people would pay for a £10 a month service, which would show Live SPL matches, along with weekly shows from each club and u19 league highlights each week. I have no inside knowledge however i would like to see if people would agree to it. A idea like this has worked in the past with the eredivisie. I for one would be all for the idea and would rather watching proper football than the overrated EPL, also this may see a return to 3PM K.O for all games.

STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS!

Bhoys finally lift SPL trophy after 4 years in waiting

It feels a lifetime ago since Celtic last lifted the SPL trophy on a balmy Thursday night in Dundee four years ago. So long ago that Rangers fans now accept as fact the myth that the season was never extended. Because the season always finishes on a Thursday don't you know! On an emotional night mere days after Celtic legend Tommy Burns had sadly passed away, recently retired Dutchman Jan Veenegoor of Hesselink rose to bullet a header home to seal Celtic's third title in a row; had someone told us then how the next three seasons would pan out, most of us would have laughed.

The more perceptive among the Celtic support could see that Gordon Strachan's side was on its last legs, especially since Rangers were able to improve their squad (undoubtedly due to dubious financial arrangements) after their embarrassing European exit to Kaunas early in the following season. Sadly, we all watched as Gordon's team visibly wilted before our eyes, drawing the final two games when two single goal victories would have made it four in a row, handing the title to Rangers.

A haunted Tony Mowbray despairs as Celtic capitulate in Paisley

It would get far worse before it got better as Tony Mowbray's tenure plumbed the depths before an unprecedented humping at the hands of St Mirren ushered in Neil Lennon, former Celtic player, captain and coach into the big job. Some questioned the wisdom of appointing a rookie though everyone responded to the new man's promise to "bring back the thunder" and ultimately, success. And here, two years into his tenure, who can argue that he hasn't?

It's incredible to think just how much the team that crushed Hearts 5-0 last Sunday has changed from that which Neil first took over in his first match against Kilmarnock when Robbie Keane scored twice on the way to a 3-1 win. Only one player-Scott Brown-from the team that started that game is still at the club (Darren O'Dea an Josh Thompson are still on the books though both out on loan).

Thus, this team truly is Neil's team. And the potential of it has Celtic fans looking forward to a bright future.

That potential was clear after a crushing victory over rivals Rangers at the end of April finally put to bed any nonsense talk about "tainted" titles. Going into the final month, three SPL games awaited with the first one up against Steve Lomas' St Johnstone, oddly on a Thursday night. Perhaps the fact that Neil made seven changes to the side that swept Rangers aside contributed to a fairly uneven, drab performance with a single Anthony Stokes strike enough to secure victory against a poor Saints side on the night. Indeed the highlight of the night was the Thai Tims performing before the match!

The match was also Mark Wilson's last appearance in a Celtic shirt and in a fitting gesture, Neil Lennon handed the defender the captain's armband. When he was substituted in the second half, the Celtic Park crowd gave Wilson a rousing send off. Every Celtic fan wishes Mark the very best wherever he ends up.

Mark Wilson was handed the captaincy in his final match at Celtic Park

It was something more like our strongest side that took the field at Tannadice 3 days later. A 1-0 defeat to the Arabs was hardly a disaster though even so, the gaffer wasn't pleased that some of his players seemed to be on 'holiday mode' as a lazy Celtic struggled to break down a United side desperate to secure European football next season.

It wasn't that Celtic were terrible, indeed Anthony Stokes missed a sitter right on the stroke of half time whilst Hooper fired a shot just wide with 10 minutes remaining. More galling was the fact that United scored with more or less their only attempt on goal after Celtic switched off at a corner allowing Scott Robertson a free header in the box, giving Fraser Forster no chance to prevent the game's only goal. Celtic were never put under any sustained pressure but unusually Celtic's midfield and forwards were just not at the races. A similar performance on trophy day against Hearts would not be tolerated.

Even the dreich Glasgow weather on Sunday was not going to dampen the spirits of the Celtic faithful who were ready to kick start the party. And it quickly became clear that the players shared that desire as within four minutes the Hoops were off and running as Gary Hooper followed up a Kris Commons shot to prod the Champions into an early lead. It was 2-0 within minutes as a surging Georgios Samaras unselfishly laid it on a plate for the Englishman to tap home his second.

Gary Hooper became the first Celtic player to score 5 goals in a single SPL match

And within the half hour mark Hooper had a hat-trick after ramming a penalty straight down the middle after a foul on Joe Ledley. Half time came with Celtic Park entertained once again from the wonderful Thai Tims of the Goodchild Foundation, resplendent in their Hoops and free from the petty jobsworths of Glasgow City Council!! There is no doubt that they left for home with some fantastic memories; we wish them well and hope to see them back at Celtic Park in the future! Anything would beat that dodgy opera singer Celtic hired to sing before the trophy ceremony.

Before that decidedly dodgy moment, there was a game to finish and what a finish it would be for Gary Hooper as he added another two goals to his haul for the day, confirming him as top SPL scorer and joining Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller in those who have scored 5 goals in a single SPL match, a feat which even the King of Kings himself, Henrik Larrson, never achieved!

And so it was onto the trophy ceremony and after said opera singer, the team emerged to finally lift the SPL trophy. Fireworks that Mario Balotelli would be proud of fired into the air as captain Scott Brown lifted the SPL trophy, much to the delight of a support deprived of success in recent seasons.

Neil Lennon triumphantly lifts the SPL trophy

However, the loudest cheer of the day was rightly reserved for the man who made it all possible, the boss, our Neil Lennon. The sight we have all been waiting for (and which arguably we should have got last season!) finally arrived as the triumphant Lennon hoisted the trophy above his head for the first time as Celtic manager. No one would bet against it being his last. He may not be a Jock Stein, Martin O'Neill or Gordon Strachan just yet but with a team bursting with potential and ready to take on the challenge that is qualifying for the Champions League, we can but hope that he is taking the first step in what will become a truly legendary management career!

Indeed, Neil is seemingly not hanging about in getting his squad prepared for the Champions League qualifiers as several players have already been trimmed from the squad: Mark Wilson, Daniel Majstorovic, Glenn Loovens and Dominic Cervi will all leave the club with the likes of Cha Du-Ri, Paddy McCourt, Niall McGinn, Daryl Murphy, Morten Rassmussen, Efrain Juarez among others all set to follow. We at TalkCeltic wish those who have already left and those that will all the very best in future.....so long as they don't join Rangers or whatever they call themselves next season!

The gaffer is no doubt looking to draft in quality as opposed to quantity as we require a player a cut above what we've been accustomed to the last couple of seasons if we are serious about getting back into Europe's premier competition and competing. Everyone wants the thunderous atmosphere that only Celtic Park can create on a Champions League night back; it's been far too long.

This isn't the end, it's just the beginning.

Celtic in May
Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone (SPL):- Stokes
Dundee United 1-0 Celtic (SPL)
Celtic 5-0 Hearts (SPL):- Hooper (5)

Player of the Month: Gary Hooper: it could only be the Englishman after his clinical 5 goal display against Hearts. The goal glut rounded off another excellent season for Hooper as he scored 29 goals and won the SPL Golden Boot. With already 51 goals in just 86 games, Hooper has been worth every penny of the £2million Neil shelled out to Scunthorpe to get his man. Surely only a ludicrous amount of money would even tempt Celtic to entertain the thought of selling him this summer, besides, surely Hooper fancies a crack at the Champions League, rather than a relegation battle in the EPL?

All that said, we haven't forgotten that moment of madness against St Johnstone, Gary!! Poor Radu Ibrahim!!

Goal of the Month: Unsurprisingly, Gary Hooper wins this as well! Opinions probably differ as to which of his five was the best, but perhaps his fourth where he rounded the keeper and showed composure to finish as defenders closed in deserves the accolade!

Basically would like to know how you would react to this being introduced? We've long spoke about it. And it seems that it's a step closer at the moment.

Would you be more encouraged to go to a game just because you can stand?

I appreciate there might be other reasons for not being able to go - financial, physical etc. - Let's just be purely hypothetical. If you could go to any game? Would standing encourage you more to go?

I would also appreciate if you'd vote in the poll as well so it gives an accurate statistic.

Daily Mirror: Robin Van Persie’s future at Arsenal is still far from certain after yesterday’s crunch talks with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

Tomorrow, I'll be going on my first ever proper road-trip: Boulder, CO. to Albuquerque, NM! Google Maps says it'll take 7 hours and 38 minutes. I've heard from others it can take longer...probably will in our case, as we have a couple of people to pick up along the way, so I'll be in the car for my longest time ever.

Naturally enough, then, I need song suggestions!

We're making our way to a Celtic festival, where I'll be participating. And considering I'll be riding with a few Americans, I thought I'd burn a CD of rebel tunes to play during the ride. Ordinarily, I wouldn't ask for such obvious ones as 'Boys of the Old Brigade', etc. but they may not be in the know, so fire them away.

Plus, when you're making a mix-tape, it has to have a certain pattern to it. So, with this being a road-trip, I thought I'd kick off with 'On the one road'.

What should follow? 'Rocky road to Dublin'?

Ryan Hart, a 14-year-old boy from Michigan, had a rude surprise when he bit into his Arby's roast beef sandwich. "I was like, 'that's got to be a finger,'" he told the Jackson Citizen Patriot. "It was just nasty."
Reportedly, a restaurant employee cut off her finger with a meat slicer while preparing the meal. She left her station to deal with the emergency, and other employees, who were unaware of the injury, continued to complete the order.
"Somebody loses a finger and you keep sending food out the window," said the teen's mom, Jamie Vail. "I can't believe that." She added that following the gruesome discovery, her son was "traumatized," couldn't eat or sleep, and had been prescribed medication Fox News reports.
John Gray, Arby's vice president of corporate communications, provided Yahoo! Shine with a statement saying, "Arby’s wants to reassure customers that we are committed to providing quality food in a safe and healthy environment. We are deeply concerned and apologetic to the guest involved in this unfortunate incident....An isolated and unfortunate accident occurred in a franchisee’s Jackson, Michigan restaurant in which an employee was injured. Upon learning of the incident, the franchisee’s restaurant team shut down food production and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the restaurant. The franchisee fully cooperated with the Health Department during the investigation, and the restaurant was given the approval to remain open."
This is not the first time human remains have been found in a fast food meal but this case might be the most extreme.
A Dayton Ohio man sued Arby's in 2005 for reportedly serving him a chicken sandwich topped with a piece of human skin.
In a famous 2005 hoax, a Las Vegas woman found a human finger in Wendy's chili but police later discovered she had cooked her husband's colleague's finger (which he had lost in a work accident) and slipped it into the bowl herself.
An Albany-area man allegedly found a bloody bandage in the crust of his Pizza Hut pie in 2011.
Also in 2011, Texan woman found blood on her French fries while eating at a Houston-area Crackle Barrel.:97::eek1::sicksmile:99:
