M8 i had the exact same problem and got rid of my norton anti virus protection and downloaded a free version of kasperky and for some mad reason my sound and shit came back to working order. I never thought it would be a protector that would fix it, it was by pure fluke that i needed to change at the time anyway.

Iv still no sound tested speakers ,tested earphones ,tried everything

when i restart the pc ,the sound comes on initially , i get the windows start up but its scratchy as hell ,its like white noise basically ,then when i play a song it's just unbearable , after a few seconds it goes off completely

feel like destroying the pc oh .....and my cursor is moving about , its slowly going up diagonally right :wtfff: iv done a virus check and nothings showing

Your PC has got Geritis. It happens at this stage of the season - just when you need it the most it starts to slow down and screw up.

Its terminal - you will need to bin it.

Never noticed this thread aswell.. This happened me couple months ago and all I needed to do was download a new driver for my onboard sound. At least you've got a soundcard now though, if problems occur with that it's easier to sort than what u had last
