He was offered similar money with Birmingham - that has been widely reported - he chose to turn it down, Bobo decided to take the money from Celtic and rot training by himself/the youths (not even the reserves) instead of getting first team football.

Sad to see that he went out on a bad note and tarnished his rep
Still was a great defender. Good luck for future endeavours

Some of the negative crap being written about Balde is amazing
If YOU were say a plumber on 30k a year.
Then your employer says to you, "WE WILL NOT REQUIRE YOU TO TURN UP FOR WORK FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS, BUT WILL STILL PAY YOUR WAGES"
Then another company approaches your current employer and says "WE WILL PAY HIM/HER 25k A YEAR TO COME AND WORK FOR US ?
think about it.
Did Bobo refuse to play for Celtic - NO
Did Bobo ask for a transfer - NO
Did Celtic ever make any statement to the support saying why Bobo had been sent to Coventry - NO
Celtic were in effect trying to cancel the contract they had given him, for no reason other than to cut the wage bill.

He was shite though, and should have moved from the opinion of anyone who knows anything about football. He was clearly just wanting to mooch on his contract seen as no other decent team would want him.
Martin O'Neill was a fuckin mug to give him that contract.

I think Bobo not leaving had a lot to do with his family being settled. No doubt we'll get a media story from it at some point. He should have left a long time ago. Was a solid defender when he first came but now he just comes across as a greedy leech.

Good big defender, always one of my favourites, (when he played).
Celtic offered him a contract and he saw it out - as he has done with absolutely every professional contract he has ever been given, so I don't understand why there are a lot of sour remarks aimed at the big fella.
Minty is also spot on - his children used to go to school in Bothwell then transferred to Hamilton, so why would he want to uproot them during their early education.
Best of luck big man - for a lot of us, you will be missed.

Good luck big man, wgs treated you like dirt and never gave you a chance. Now that both of them have left celtic i hope the truth comes out.
I remember back in 26 December 2007, we wer shipping goals left, right and centre and nearly every celtic fan wanted bobo back in the team, he came in and helped Celtic to their first away clean sheet in almost 15 months in a 2-0 victory against dundee utd. He was also awarded Man Of The Match for his brilliant display, yet was still dropped for an unconvincing caldwell at the time when he returned from suspension.

Same thought as me Davie, i stood beside him for a photo a few years ago and he didnt seem as big as you would think after seeing him on tele. You could tell he was 100% muscle though and he had an intimdating presence about him, nice big guy though

but other clubs did want him...so thats nonsense. He was only wanting what he was owed and what celtic offered him.

no idea why people are sticking their oars into this one when virtually no information about the situation has been released.
if the current standoff ends up in court (which looks likely) we'll have the opportunity to judge then, but now it's just weans flinging mud at a wall, nothing more.
