I think we have a shot again at second spot. But it will be difficult as IMHO Villareal are better then the Benfica sides we knocked out the last 2 seasons. Aalborg will be a tough nut to crack as well. For us to get second I think we will need to beat Aalborg home and away and get 4 points at home from Villareal and Manchester United.

Well " on paper " name the villarreal players that are better than the celtic players on paper.
artur boruc is better than their goalkeeper, and manchester uniteds for that matter.
Shunsuke Nakamura at his best is just as good as anyone from villarreal or man utd on the night, he's no as good a player as ronaldo, but he can do as much damage as ronaldo to a team.
same with McGeady at times.
vennegoor is a proven goalscorer in europe too, and is just as good as Nihat.
just cos players play in a foreign league that has a good reputation doesn't mean their any good.

I'm not about to argue with you about it.
Why?
"Don't tell me Riordan is not good enough to play at Celtic, he's the best striker we have" I believe you once said, so obviously arguing with you would be a non starter.
Manchester United are the EPL and European Champions, so on paper, they are simply better than us. They have 1 player who is worth more than our entire squad.
Villareal came 2nd in Spain last year and were in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup. Previous to that, this is their record in Europe.
03/04 UEFA Cup Semi Final (8th in Spain)
04/05 UEFA Cup Quarter Final (3rd in Spain)
05/06 Champions League Semi Final (7th in Spain)
06/07 Intertoto 3rd round (poorest) (5th in Spain)
07/08 UEFA Cup Last 32 (2nd in Spain)
