sorry if its been posted...
BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Celtic | Celtic consider bid for Maloney
would have him back any day of the week. with Naka considered to be leaving when his contract is up next summer, he would be great to have as the replacement.
to have McGeady, Maloney, Mizuno, McCourt and Caddis as wingers next season is good enough for me. it would allow us to concentrate on other areas. i know theres other areas in the team that need strengthening this window, but if a good player becomes available for the right fee etc then we should go for him. Maloney is certainly a good player. the reason why people don't want him back is because they view him as being pretentious. i think if we gave him another chance, he will apprieciate his surroundings and the size of the club. some may argue that he should of been in the first place, but we all make mistakes.

Think that could be best for every1 as naylor is rotten at the moment & clearly isnt happy. Maloney is a good attacking midfielder/ winger that wants to return & prove his worth also wont need settling time that others might
And we go out and get a LB
So as long as they money aint to much id go for it

TBH watching Skippy I think Wee Shaun Maloney would be a great alternative and would welcome him back with open arms. We need strength in depth and he was quality before and I think WGS could take him to the next level.

maloney be a cracking signing for loads of reasons imo..
judging by pre-season and the first two games it would give aiden a kick up the backside,he is creative and has an end product,he has pace which we desperatley need,he is brilliant at linking the midfield to the forwards and last but not least he will burst a gut to prove himself again to the celtic fans

FROM THE DAILY HUN
SHAUN MALONEY is closing in on a £1million switch to Celtic after an 18-month exile from Parkhead.
The Scotland striker would welcome a return ticket to join Gordon Strachan's first-team squad after a disappointing spell at Aston Villa.
Record Sport can reveal talks are under way between the clubs regarding a move to bring Maloney back to Glasgow.
The 25-year-old has failed to make an impact at Villa Park amid claims of homesickness.
Ex-Hoops boss Martin O'Neill paid £1m for the attacker on the final day of the January 2007 transfer window to take him to England's second city but suggestions of a return north of the border have continually surrounded the Scotland international and Celtic have now opened discussions with Villa regarding the prospect of taking him back.
Strachan is still looking to add to his squad before the close of this transfer window, having already secured Glenn Loovens, Marc Crosas, Georgios Samaras and Paddy McCourt.
In the striking department, the Celtic boss has Scott McDonald, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Samaras at his disposal. Maloney, however, would add a potent fourth option with a long campaign of Champions League and domestic games ahead.
Maloney did not take any part in Villa's 4-2 home win against Manchester City yesterday.

More importantly, did he play in Europe for Villa?

I also meant to say, does anyone think it's suspect that Naylor, who O'Neill has stated a want for, didn't play yesterday? Maybe a move is in the works.

Would be good to get rid of Naylor. His face has been tripping him for months. Unfortunately, we're then left with the problem we had last year; no natural SB (but on the left this time). If we're to succeed in Europe, we need players in their natural positions. Sorry to go off-thread.

Well if maloney and robinson sign then it's at least a step in the right direction. I would like that big signing though! Someone to get the fans on their feet.

how about Maloney, Robinson and a big signing before the window shuts? that would be a good window shopping spree imo.
however, i think our 'big' signing this window was Loovens i'm not upset that he is here, its just that we usually get a £3.5m-£5m player in in this window. i know spending big doesn't always guarentee success, but it is exciting when someone of JVoH's quality record comes in.
however, i can understand it as we haven't sold any first team squad member really and we still have Gravesen and Balde on the books.

After yesterdays game I really do hope Maloney comes. To be honest, I know we have signed Loovens but Id like another CB, Maloney, a LB and a striker. I know this wont happen before the window closes but in an ideal world....
