Official TC Dundee United v Celtic Thread
Well it looks like make or break. Can we pull it off. If we do then it will be an emotional night with the passing of one of our own.
Tommy Burns will drive them on even in death and I really think no one will grudge us the title.
Come on Celtic. Do it for Tommy.

Well i'll be at the beam back but would much rather be at the game itself. Yes it will be a very emotional night, This week will be very emotional and lets hope the players can keep themselves right for this. It'll be hard for the players though and they need our backing 100% all the way through the match.

It can go one of 2 ways, either its Kilmarnock on the last day a few years ago where we ran riot, or its Motherwell where we ...... well we all know !!
I think we'll do it this time, this team wants it so badly, and Skippy owes us !!!!

pretty sure that will be the team bar maybe Wilson for either Naylor or Hinkel depending on fitness and choices. Just looking at the team on paper and by SPL standards its very powerful full of skill, power and experience (CL and international). We should be more than a match for anyone in the SPL. If every player hit something like top form (as all but Naylor did v Hibs) AND we have our shooting boots on (which we didnt against Hibs) then there is no chance of us not winning this game. Thats two big ifs but its totally up to the players. They really dont deserve it if they cant come out with a huge performance. They have the ultimate incentive, have had 11 days rest, almost everyone is fit so there are no excuses.

I know exactly what you mean but its very risky to start with that pairing as they have never really played much together and they both tend towards the channels. Samaras has never played really well from the start. I think he is not suited to the tight defending and is far better coming on when the defenders are tired and the game is stretching. On paper he has everthing but he is a strange player. One advantage of JVOH being slow is that he knows it so tries to play as close to the goal as the game lets him. I do agree if goals are not going in to bring him on a wee bit earlier than normal, maybe around 60 minutes either instead of JVOH or as a three up.

It has to be Jan and Skippy for me, Sammy and Skippy don't work well together and we can't drop Skippy for such an important game so it's Jan and Skippy for me with Sammy coming on around 60th min if we're in trouble.
Think Thurs might be the day Skippy can finally put the ghost of Fir Park 2005 to rest and I see him scoring along with Robbo.
