Very mature indeed Martin, for one lamenting the quality of the youth of today's English.

Tell me, how do I tell someone to piss off, when exactly what I want to tell them is piss off ?
You and Stupidmike are the ones who are being ultra pedantic. If you want to analyse it, 'Should have got a pic' is fine, everybody understands what he means and I am not being so pedantic that I would point out the colloquial use of language in it.
However 'Should of, could of, would of, are all wrong. Plain wrong, simple as.
I say again if I am doing something incorrectly and someone tells me how to do it right then I thank them. Not moan about like you and Mike are - when it wasn't even your post I corrected. Who is the pedant eh ?
BTW I do use a good standard of English and spelling on here. Feel free to contradict me on that. But like every human being I make mistakes and typos. If someone shows me how not to make those mistakes I'd be grateful.

No Jeannie but if I was weetim's age (i.e. of school age) I'd find it useful to improve my grammar on something as fundamental as 'should of'. I would be grateful, at that age, for any help, in improving my communication skills.

Should of, would of and could of are of course, just simply wrong but this isn't an English grammar forum is it? I'm sure everyone knew what was meant.
As far as my being a pedant - why were you so offended(telling us to piss off) when Mike and I corrected your language eventhough you were so quick to correct others?
As you say though you do use a good standard of English and I think most people on here actually appreciate that as sometimes it can take a good few minutes just to figure out what some posters are actually saying, never mind considering the post and then responding.

No it's not an English forum. But there is no doubt that well written posts are to be desired. And I fully appreciate there are folk on here who can write better than me. However it is most definitely in weetim's interests to try and learn to write as well as he possibly can. One of the ways his English will improve is by reading good posts, learning from them, and using what he has learned in his own writing. If you are going to do something it is worthwhile to try and do it right.

I thought I had explained that, but not well enough it seems. I corrected one pretty fundamental error. Not the wrong grammar, or tense but the wrong word. It's pretty basic. I was not so pedantic to try and correct it so that it was grammatically perfect. You have done that, and that's why you are pedantic. You are the one who has said 'well to be absolutely correct it should have read....'

Maybe you still think you weren't being pedantic but in all honesty I think we both were.
At any rate, unless you are actually an English teacher with the education of the nation firmly in your thoughts and best interests, or you are indeed weetim's father, then this is an extremely trivial argument so let's leave it at that shall we?

Fair enough.
No I am not his father. But it is good for anyone to read things which are properly written. No matter what I am reading I am looking to improve my linguistic skills, because it is important to communicate well.
I did the lad a favour. You pulled me up for it. If I was using the wrong word frequently I would genuinely like to know if I was using the wrong word and what word I should be using instead.

No he's not. That would be pedantic. Doing somebody a favour when they are using the wrong word entirely is not.

It's the same when people say 'There' as in: 'There all over the place'
or
'There friends started drinking pints of Jayes Fluid'
or
'There never going to beat Zenit'

Should be ' Even though'
There is a space between 'even' and 'though'
Just pointing it out.
