JVOH

Sorry to dampen the mood just want to get a feeling for general thought on the beanpole that is Hesselink. I've not seen a thread dedicated to him yet. Anyways:

Does anyone else not think JVOH is just a heed-the-baw?

He NEVER EVER takes the ball in/holds it up to bring others into play.

All he does when he wins a header (which i would say is 50% of the time being generous) is heed the baw behind him in the hope skippy is there to pick up the peices. He is a far cry from Sutton/Hartson who frequently won fouls and held up play introducing players etc.

When was the last time he scored a decent goal with his foot?

For a guy of his size he has a very poor physical presence.

When Samaras came on the difference was striking. He at least attempts to bring the ball in introduce others and even dribble and shoot!!

Sorry guys

your thoughts?

Shame on him, he ain't no Larsson or C Ronaldo, but at the end of the days he's still the topscorer number 2 in the spl....

19 goals. Decent return for his type of forward.

Another one who suffers because braindead cunts pick up the Daily Retard and read about how shite he is and just agree with it without looking at the numbers.

Fans try and pidgeon hole him into this targetman that should only be winning headers and bring others into play. Yes it's a facet of his game given he's 6 foot 3 but it's not the be all and end all, i like him personally.

The last good goal he scored with his foot? 4-1 against Motherwell when he smashed it away from 14 yards. If this guy wasn't about we wouldn't be in with a shout for the spl. Rangers 2-1 ffs?!?!? Vennegoor in the spl has put away more than anyone else bar mcdonald. This guy is good although I expect him to go back to holland at the end if the season as he is getting old and pave the way for Samaras. I dont think this guy gets the credit he deserves and Strachab has stuck with him for 3 seasons so he must be okay.

he was poor today no escaping that dono if samaras is the answer though his touch at times is shocking.
some games yes jvoh is just a head-the-baw. the ball gets played to him where all he can do is header it hopefully towads skippy. not every game suits him but you can see clearly that he DOES try. sick of reading that he's lazy. he was pulling his hair out when things weren't going his way today.

i'm gonna try and be civil but fuck off, samaras is gash. JVOH isn't henke or sutton or BBJ but i think he's an an excellent player for us and wish people would stop giving him such a hard time tbh. 19 goals is not a bad return for a target man imo

jvoh is an excellent player at what he does but he is a 6 yard box aerial player. he is useless even 18 uyarde out. He has done well for us but we ideally need a more mobile striker cause he just couldnt react to some good through balls today. If he goes he can hold his head high, He has been every bit as good as BBJ but he is not the answer when we play great quick passing football like today.

big sam needs to learn how to fight the way jan does. I feel like jan has some games where he is even more physically imposing than any of our defenders. He works well in combo with skippy. Samarras is mroe skilled and if he could learn this tough aspect could surpass jan. But for now and i think maybe 1 more season keep Jan and keep our offensive options varied: 1)skippy small and quick
2) jan big and strong
3) georgios somewhere in the middle of the two with a bit of flair tossed in

I think that the general feelings that Jan is lazy are bulls**t.... The guy trys his hardest every time he pulls on the hoops.... Fact!! I think that his tally for the season says it all.... 19 goals and more to come, an excellent return for a player playing in his role.... his skill and physical presence complients Skippys and with that duo up front you're bound to get a lot of goals.....Doubt skippy would have gotten half as much if he was partnering Sam up front...

I think that the guy is a great player and has done an excellent job for the money that we parted with to get him

well said sir, jan isn't a 30 goal a year striker but his all round play is excellent and he works hard for the team
