Alot of people benefitted from playing off Hartson, Skippy is doing the same with Hesselink.

While they are similar, they aint identical but their end product is about the same although BBJ did it for many more years than Hesselink
Ive always said Jan can score goals, but at times he looks as if he isn't intreseted and as i have said the amount of fouls he gives away is unbelievable, although the refs don't always help.

I'd take the Celtic John Hartson over him anyday

Just checked and his goal was inside the box against Man U. Good memory Dempsey

the fact it was inside probably made it a harder shot because he had to hit it much harder because of the angle

It's the point that he has barely scored a goal from outside the box, that i was making

Means nothing if you're a striker. Van Nistlerooy springs to mind

Not only do people "grass-is-always-greener"-style point out that hartson was a better player but at the same time forget VoH has a similar goal per game ratio, more mobility (lol still virtually nothing) and cost half as much.

I was getting around to that point aswell.

If we can get someone better, fine but keeping him would be a good idea. Samaras doesnt have what it takes.

Did Hartson ever look out of his depth? Were talking old firms, European nights and what not. Answer No.

Does Jan. Yes, has been poor in Europe , good goal against Barca and Man U but in the whole has been poor. Old Firms, 1 goal and 1 assist of late but generally been crap.

Hartson could win you big games, Jan overall can't.

I think Nostalgia is slightly getting the better of you on that one.

While I do agree he has won us more tight big games, I've already stated that Hartson has had far more time at Celtic and that has alot got to do with it.

And the way people on here react to any loss suggests that every game is a big one for Celtic. Jan has 19, I havent checked but id reckon about 10 are match winners or lead grabbing goals.

I dont want to get bogged down in the nitty gritty differences between him and Hartson, they are similar, not the same but back to my original point, he's a similar player to BBJ and he's has a similar season to BBJ a couple of years ago and people since BBJ left were complaining that we didnt have a 20(+) goal a season striker, we now have 2 (all competitions) and people are now still complaining that he's record in front of goal isnt good enough.

People complained like fuck about Hartson in his last season here, like Lennon, but "up" him years later when he's compared a similar player at the club despite putting in a similar goalscoring record this season.

Hesselink should be here next season, wether he starts or not will be determined by what happens in the summer transfer window.

I hope he scores a couple in the Summer and we sell him. I think strikers like him are ten a penny and have better workrate.

You think wrong as they aren't, certainly Dutch international strikers that want to play in the SPL.

To state the obvious, I'd sell him at a good profit - if we had a better prospect to bring in.

The likelyhood of that happening is minimal.

Are we a selling club?

Boruc, McGeady, Broon, Sno, Naka, JVoH, Skippy.

Maybe we can sell these players on in the very near future at a profit?

I'm sure that's the reason we bought Sno.

When was the last player we sold on for a profit there was a chance of keeping i.e they wanted to stay?

"Strikers like him are ten a penny".

Rubbish. If that was the case why don't we have 4 '20 a season' strikers?

Kenny Miller 3 Million squids

I think that this'll change this season if WGS stays - he'll want to free up space in the squad.
He's looking at another CM (don't he just love those CM's) in Vukojevic (rumour) & will need to get rid of Donati, Gravesen & maybe Sno - granted this might not produce a net profit.

Riorden should produce a profit too.
