McGeady made his choice and thats it and its not reversable so not worth talking about and its been done to death. I was talking about international supporters attitudes in Scotland rather than players.

we had the better team when aiden was growing up so i'm sure he expected to have a better international career with us rather than scotland, if he made his choice again i think he'd chose scotland

Think the Aidan international career thing could do with going on an instant 'close' list. We have been over this before. We have been told of several factors from the horses mouth:

1. A relatively recent Irish heritage (1950s rather than 1840s tatty famine immigrants) which gave him granny rule elligibility. Seems to be the same story with McCarthy. Most young Scots with Irish descent are several generations further from Ireland than Aidan is and wouldnt qualify so I dont expect this to happen too often.

2. Couldnt play for Scotland at some youth levels because of some loophole

3. Lack of pursuit by Scotland

4. Influence of Packy Bonnar

5. Sharp moving by Ireland

others have added that the following may have been factors:

5. Really bad Scotland team and decent Ireland team at the time of his decision.

6. Young age of the decision an underestimation of the public feeling of dissapointment.

There was probably a combination of factors of the above and we will never know for sure. The main thing is the SFA must make sure it doesnt contribute to this happening again by being complacent, having loopholes etc.

Thats what I think was the biggest factor to TBH. The way Vogts was taking Scotland at that time, who the fuck would want to committ their international career to that. With Ireland he had the prospect of major tournies etc.

But this topic has been done to death, I dont see the point in the original post. I dont want to be made to feel that I should become detached from my own country because im Catholic and a tim, so what if the SFA have made some dodgy calls, we know those in charge are a bunch of overpaid, incompetent wasters - as Keltoi says they're an association not the country.

This shite is drilled into too many heads at a young age, and its fellow tims that are perpetuating this attitude.

Anyone fancy doing a poll on banning Aidan international career theads and confine it as a topic to within Ireland game threads in the world football section.

This has been done in every thread involving McGeady and the Ireland national team no need for another topic on this matter.

No need to have this kind of discussion the day before the celtic huns match.
This is a very very divisive issue when we should be concentrating on the fact the Rangers are shite. Mon the hoops

Any complaints PM me.
