celtic very disappointed with another postponement
Celtic have expressed severe disappointment that the Clydesdale Bank
Premier league match with Motherwell has been postponed for a second
time due to the state of the Fir Park pitch.
The Lanarkshire club had asked for a precautionary pitch inspection on
Friday afternoon following heavy rain and it would appear their worst
fears were realised this morning when that planned inspection took
place at 9 am.
The verdict of a waterlogged pitch is a recurring theme. The match was
initially re-scheduled for 30 January following the death of
Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell at the end of December, but that was
called off with less than an hour to go before the evening kick off.
A club spokesperson said: "This is extremely disappointing news and
once again has caused massive inconvenience for those supporters who
travel long distances to matches. There is clearly a fundamental issue
with this pitch and we would have obvious concerns about future
matches taking place at Fir Park including next Sunday's scheduled
league tie with Gretna.
