Celtic means absolutely everything to me but at the end of the day a game of football doesn't superceed the tragic end to a great mans life.
The family want Well next games posponed - we just happen to be one of the teams they are playing.

Yip i seen that earlier, if they're fine with that then we'll run with it, no need to postpone it otherwise.

I'd support a postponement of the Celtic-Rangers game.

For a couple of reasons. Firstly I have no appetite whatsoever for watching football at the moment after what happened to Phil, and secondly it'll be sickening to listen to all the usual shite spouted at these games. If this tragedy has proved anything, it is that football is unimportant.

If we had been playing anyone other than Rangers then I'm certain the full SPL card would have been cancelled. But as someone has already pointed out, nothing much else matters in the game other than cold hard cash.

And while I'm on about the game, this minutes applause is all wrong as well. A minute of applause should be used when an old man has passed away and we can all celebrate a long life well lived. But I don't feel like applauding when a young man dies so suddenly and tragically. A minutes silence is far more fitting, and to hell with any idiots who would try to ruin it.

I voted for applause in that thread, but on reading your post there i've changed my mind, silence is more appropriatte.

The Huns won't respect a minutes silence so it should be a minutes applause.

You're just bowing to the knuckledraggers by doing that.

If they want to pour shame on themselves and their club then let them do it. And leave the rest of us alone with our thoughts and prayers for the family.

Just to give another point. American sports is driven by money as well (but in all fairness had no way to reschedule the game since the schedule its put on) and this season a Washington Redskins star player was murdered in his own home probably by a armed robbery. They played that week and since then made a remarkable winning streak and made the playoffs. Now thats how you dedicate a fallen teammate.

I however understand motherwell canceling their matches but I would not really understand other matches being canceled. If this makes me cold hearted..

I still think a minutes applause in recognition for what he did for Celtic and Motherwell. He should be applauded for that.

I tend to go with the idea that the huns should be shown for what they are if they cannot observe a minutes silence. As was already said, we should now be bowing to their ignorance.

to be honest any rangers supporting person i've spoken to haven't had anything other than sympathetic and respectful things to say in regards to this tragedy. i dare say their would be one or two bawbags if there is a minutes silence but if it was an ex rangers player then i dare say there would be the same scum in our midst. no reason to cancel the game as he was a motherwell player and a minutes silence not applause for the reasons given by mr. green. got to disagree with you about the whole card being postponed though mate. in spain earlier this season was it not just the seville games?

also can i just say folk talking about ye postpone the game, mcgeady will serve his suspension in another game and we'll get the signings in. shame on you you fucking scumbags!

I am sort of with you on that one. I don't think it's quite as important to his memory to cancel a game between two teams he wasn't playing for on a ground he wasn't playing on. I think that aplause or a minute of silence would be a fair tribute of respect in this case.
