Dida the Milan fall guy?

This was just posted on Reuters:

October 4th, 2007, filed by Mark Meadows

By the sound of it in Italy, AC Milan keeper Dida could end up in as much trouble as the Celtic fan who hit him.

Celtic had just gone 2-1 up
in the last minute of their Champions League group game on Wednesday when a celebrating supporter ran on to the pitch and gave the Brazilian keeper a slap. Dida initially gave chase before dramatically collapsing to the floor and being carried off.

Dida was accused by the Italian media both of faking the injury and of being at fault on the two goals, while even Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said he had gone down too easily.

“Didastro,” was the main headline in Thursday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, a play on the Italian word for disaster. Gabriele Capasso at Calcio blog said Dida’s sudden fall was “the show of the century”.
The episode reminded many of Rivaldo, another Brazilian, who spectacularly fell to the floor clutching his face at the 2002 World Cup having been struck on the legs by a ball angrily kicked by Turkey player Hakan Unsal.
Dida was struck by a flare in a Champions League quarter-final second leg with Inter Milan in 2005. That abandoned match was handed to AC Milan but Milan were quick to say they would not be asking for a replay or to be given the points.

Ancelotti said: “It does not seem serious. Perhaps he has exaggerated.”

The defeat for the European champions and Dida’s antics pile more pressure on Ancelotti, whose side have made a poor start to the Serie A season.
“Milan on the floor like Dida,” ran an inside headline in Gazzetta.
Down, but not out, surely?
Mark Meadows, Milan

Dida

I watched the match last night, what a great result, the media today are all over Celtic, trying, I think or hoping should I say that we be punished for that idiot's behaviour. But looking at Dida I think once he DIVED with greatness, he had to stay down realising how stupid he looked to everyone, if Celtic get a punishment he deserves one too.

AC MILAN FAN CONGRATULATIONS

Hello Bhoys! I'm an AC Milan fan and first of all would apologize in the name of all the fair AC Milan supporters for what our goalkeeper Dida showed last night. We aren't proud about that and since the moment all of us feel respect for your warm support and your fair play, both players in the pitch and fans on the stands, I want you to know we didn't like what he did! Furthermore, You have to know we don't feel confident about him anymore, and in San Siro nobody would like to see him with our red-black shirt: he isn't reliable anymore and makes uncomfortable all the defense pack.
Second: congratulations for your fighting spirit and never-die attitude: we're not at our best these last matches, as you could see from our Serie A results, but you played hard and fair and your win comes from a better will of winning the match.
We wait for you in San Siro, 12000 like last year.
Ciao!

I'm an A.C. Milan fan and I'm ashamed

Hello Celtic fans!
Firstable sorry for my terrible english, i'll try to explain with my words my point of view about the "fan incident" but i ask you to be kind if i make some mistake...

Well, i like very much your team, it's full of history and its fans are very passionate and correct; when i hear the celtic park singing "you'll never walk alone" I understand that in italy a similar thing would be impossible...
The invasion of that fan is a bad thing, but Dida's behaviour is unacceptable. It's a stain on the reputation of A.C. Milan and in general on all italian football.
I want to say you that in Italy everybody comdemns it, especially the A.C. Milan fans.
Celtic didn't play very well, but also A.C. Milan didn't play a good football and I think that the defeat is right.
Dida's behaviour was bad, but Ancelotti and Galliani (our manager) showed to be gentlemen; so i ask you to consider their words as a demonstration of italian class, not the performance of our goalkeeper, who's brazilian.
Italians aren't only cheaters...

Thank u very much and i'm sorry if i've tortured your language!

Matteo

I totally agree with this Milan supporter and all of us AC MILAN fans feel very ashamed for that unacceptable dive: that goalkeeper isn't a good one anymore, nobody in San Siro can stand his mistakes and his arrogance anymore; now that he kept acting like that, I bet the next time he enters the pitch in Milan will be covered with whistles and "boooos". AC MILAN is special, known worldwide for its fair attitude, and we won't let this thing going smooth.
