I think Seville was the peak for that side, and although we won the league at a canter in the following year, MO'N should have been rebuilding.

But I don't think the kind of money which allowed him to sign Sutton, Thompson, Lennon and Hartson was available again. And most of his cheaper signings did not have the same impact.

I think WGS will get a substantial transfer budget in the summer. Look at it this way. Rangers have a total rebuilding job on their hands and have less money to spend than us. We already have a better first team and stronger squad, we have more money and 3/4 quality signings in the right positions should see us continue to dominate.

MON was given substantial money to spend each year but Martin chose to spend it on long and lucrative contracts for players he already had and some of which we are still paying for.Choosing to give Big Bobo a four year contract on £28,000 a week with a six month get out clause if something better came along was lunacy to say the least.

I certainly didn't call everyone an idiot and i'm not against constructive criticism. But the level of bile directed at some players and the manager by some of the "fans" posting in here is fucking ludicrous. What i love is these are the same guys who complain about media bias. But media bias is green lit specifically by perceived attitude of the fans.

I've never heard Rangers fans complain to this degree about a winning team. There are probably less fans bitching about their fans right now and they're headed for second place.

Right now, Celtic can't hold onto a top player ONLY if a top team comes calling. Then the combination of player ambition and cash muscle makes holding onto that player to tough in most cases. So we're talking about Barca, Man U, the top dogs.

From the end of next season Aston Villa, Wigan, Fulham etc will also be making enough money to make moves on our top players. And we compete for signings in the first place on a British market, making getting good guys in the first place very hard.

In a way were better prepared than most. There is something special about our club that means some guys will just want to come here. Also we've been preparing better than Rangers in terms of scouting networks etc.

But it's still about to get a whole lot more difficult than it was.
