Football Manager 2012

In about 4 months (October/November) Football Manager 2012 will be released - maybe next month the release date will be announced. So, I was just wondering, what changes/improvements would you like to see?

These are just a few things I think would make the game better (some are probably un-realistic and would never happen lol but it's just a few suggestions)




You should have more options for the team-talks, private chats with players & press conferences.

I think you should also be able to have a private chat with a member of staff. eg. your assistant manager or coach.

Improved fan chants, how good would it be to hear "i just cant get enough" while playing :icon_mrgreen:

Improved fan graphics, maybe something like fans waving flags etc

Improved stadium graphics, make Celtic Park look like Celtic Park and all the other stadiums look the same as in real life.

As your a manager, you get a wage, but you cannot spend the money. I think it would be great if say you dont have enough money to buy a player, you can just use the money that you have earned through management.

I think you should be able to take control of a reserve or youth team of a club instead of just a first-team.

I would also like the player faces, team badges etc to be in the game from the start so you dont have download it all. I've had loads of problems myself trying to download them.

I think it would be great if you could build like a youth camp thing like Barcelona have "La Masia" and you could send scouts to under 12's games and that, if they're good enough then put them in the training camp and try and develop them into a world class player.

I think it would be good to have testimonials for legends of the team when they retire.



As I said some of the thing there are un-realistic, but you never know :icon_mrgreen:

More options for press conferences, they get incredibly repetitive.

Same with team talks.

As realistic as possible match engine. Some of the sitters I see players miss is unreal.

Manager/coach of the youth team, is it not just the same thing lol. It's just like managing the first-team but your managing the youth team.

Maybe you could have a youth champions league tournement aswell to make it a bit better and you could scout amatuer clubs to find young talent. <<< I think that would be good for a first-team aswell, have amatuer teams in it to look for hidden gems.

and finally the overall issue with tycoons suddenly buying over a shite club etc when you know its not gonna happen lol killy just got that french dude on my celtic save and is promosing 40+mil in transfers!

I think they've worked on making players have more personality with the private chat but they could improve this even further by having things like day to day training reports, players could come in having been out late the night before or something like that and you could pull them up for it.

Also with players being dropped for big games (like Berbatov in the Champions League final) you could have the option of telling them that it was for tactical reasons or a poor performance in the previous game. I'd also like if players with huge egos could occasionally criticise their manager's tactics or do something that reflects the horrendous egos that are in football these days.

On a similar note, I want to be able to have 10-20 reasons to criticise or praise the opposition's manager/tactics/players before and after a match, every game. I hate having loads of players injured by the opposition and not being able to slate their manager's dirty tactics afterwards. If you praised, say, Rangers flowing attacking football, it would reflect badly on your footballing knowledge in the eyes of your players, but if you said "they're solid and pragmatic" then it would be seen positively as you understanding the opponents' game.

These are in FM11 already mate - before the match have a private chat with said star player ad tell him he's dropped - he will usually moan :icon_mrgreen:

And if your tactics or team talk are a bit.... out there, then your players will moan to the press - XXXXX feels that XXXX's team talk didnt help, XXXXX feels that XXXXX'x tactics left alot to be desired etc.

No sure about what i want in, but....
I would like to see some changes to these features;
When you promise to a certain player them you will clear out some dead wood to reduce the competition for place, you do that, and they still bitch about it and request a transfer - like they have no idea what you have just done. i.e they dont realise you have kept your promise to them.

Players getting the huff when you transfer list a player/sell a player/loan list a player.
They are supposed to professional footballers, not nursery kids! Its a part of the game and rarely will a player want away from a club after they sell their best player for 5x what they paid for him.

Are you talking about the national teams?

The Dutch and German leagues both have real player names...

You can get the Japanese league unlocked just need to delete a file. Same with the Germany and Japan national teams, just delete all the 'fake' files and your sorted.

I'd like to be able to have more than 1 favoured club & language like the players and other staff have, and even though it probably doesn't make a difference, I would like to be able to send a player for language lessons, ie if the player doesn't speak good english and he's playing in the UK then I could send him to somewhere to learn it.

I'd also like to be able to have favoured personnels too, and i think it would be good for journalists to ask you for an interview or something for a paper or etc, and maybe like your clubs official website to ask you things like how do you think the season going and things like that.

Maybe you could add some controversy into the game :fear: , like say its the CL semi-final and your key player - lets say Messi or Ronaldo - is on a yellow card so if he got booked in the 2nd leg he would miss the final, maybe in the first leg you could tell him to deliberatly get a yellow card :icon_mrgreen: or just ask him to do anything before a game in the private chat thing.

I think it would be good if you got different kits for every season instead of the same one over and over again.

Maybe instead of just going straight in and starting a season, you could play like quick matches, like in FIFA, you just pick your team, pick the team you wanna play against and play. This will get you better at the game, trying out different tactics etc, and maybe you could choose to start a season as classic clubs, like the Lisbon Lions etc and try to see if you can win the Europan Cup with them :celt_2:
I think it would be good if you could declare interest in a job - not one you would like to manage straight away - but for instence if you support Celtic then you could say "well one day i'd like to manage Celtic" or your country.

When your sending someone out on loan who you want to gain first-team experience, i think its really annoying when you check how he's getting on and he's only played like 5 game in the full season :31: I would like it if when you are setting his transfer status to "available for loan" you could also say that he MUST have a first-team role.

When International friendlies come up and it says do you want to remove him from the squad or play for 45 minutes, I would like to tell the player what im doing, like if i want him removed from the squad, i would like to tell him why, maybe because we have an important game coming up and you want him to be 100% fit or something like that.

When one of you're players accepts a lower wage contract for another club, he wants you to pay some of his wages until his contract runs out, but I cant do that. I would like to be able to ask him or the club to pay some of his wages if I cant afford it.

Also i'd like to interact with a player during the game, like shout at him if hes playing shite or praise him if hes playing good.

Maybe you could see the back page headlines of the paper if you have won the league or have just beaten a bigger club.

But maybe everything i've just said is too much and will never going to happen but I think it would make the game better.

Wouldn't really want new kits every season. No point, would rather they concentrated on fixing bugs and general game play. The graphics are poor atm as well so you would hardly see the difference.

Been having a think about this for a few days and not been able to come up with too much that is original to be honest! Few things i would like to see improved/added are...

More flexible negotiations with players. Too many times i am the only team in talks with a player, i talk him down from 25k to say 15k in wages and he accepts, then another team puts in a bid and gives him more but i cant renegotiate my deal with him! Lost so many players through this!

More variety with the press, i am so bored of them but i feel like i need to keep doing them to keep my team from becoming complacent! But its the same route or very similar route everytime and it just doesnt interest me at all.

I would like better interaction with players as well, think it is very flawed and players are very huffy in fm11! A player makes a small complaint, you try to answer him and it escalates into him wanting to leave!

I think the game is really good just now and i would like them to work on the bugs before adding loads of new features, understand new features sells the game but i think if they worked out 90% of the bugs people would be submersed into it even more than they are now and that would be more enjoyable than a few new features i think.

Would like to create more flexible formations. Say a 4 - 5 - 1 when we are defending that changes into a 4 - 3 - 3 when attacking. So you could design tactics for when we dont have the ball and different ones for when we do. I suppose you can kind of do this now but its not as clear cut as the team changes formation with possession.

Another thing that has been annoying me is finances. I understand that they are very in depth and must take a lot of work for them to get them running smoothly, but i dont think it is very transparent what each thing is that costs you money and what you make money on. Would like to be able to affect some of these to try bring in more money or to save money if needs be. Maybe adding in an extra staff member like an accountant or something? Could send you a detailed financial report every month and maybe you could talk to him.

I like the idea of managing U19's or reserve teams, like a career mode kinda thing. Along the lines of you have just finished your playing career and you have been given a reserve managing role to build up experience etc.. Much like Neil Lennon did.

I offered Ki for £5million, though he's rated as £1.5 million and all the clubs that responded, about 8 clubs all put in the same offer of £3.1million. That must be a glitch, they all offer the same random amount of money that's neither the player's value or the price tag I've put on him. It's like they're in cahoots even though they're trying to beat each other to sign him. And then when I reject them all, he gets unhappy, why can't I tell him that only I'll sell him when an offer comes in that meets my valuation.
