With some exceptions (Essien being a notable one), height normally is associated with strength with regards to footballers - so i don't understand how my previous comment of this wee kid not feasibly making a big difference in tight, physical games is so inaccurate?[/quote]

I think you might be getting my comments mixed up with someone else's, mate. I didn't say anything about that. That said, though, there is no definitive correlation between height and strength. If that were the case, football would only be played by basketball-sized players. Maradona was as strong as an ox. In the modern game, check out Tevez. Lennon is another. You also mentioned Essien. Add Cannavarro, Makalele and Carlos Puyol to the list too. Of course there are wee guys in the game who aren't physically powerful, but then you also have tall guys that suffer from the same complaint. I've never seen the guy, so I don't know what he's like, but it's never a good idea to make an assumption about a player based on something as trivial as his height.

Fair one - esp with Cannavaro who is an ox and one of my favourite players - Italy suffered in the Euros in his absence.

With the exception of Makalele though, all the guys you mentioned have an amazing leap (see Tevez's goal against Blackburn in the 88th minute which (effectively) won them the league. Gutted.) Saha could have been another one too..

Still don't see the requirement whatsoever of a young, unproven, small, young buck coming to us - especially when he would not offer any much needed height, and when i can't see him getting much of a game! Just seems like a lot of exaggerated paper talk to me - clearly this guy will be in Spain or France (again) next season...
