I fully understand your point. Why wouldn't a young GAA player go over there to get paid for playing football? I've lived there myself and I'm planning on going back for good (and I don't even play football), it's an amazing place.
I was talking to a mate about this and he reckons that if the GAA turn pro, it'll tear the organisation apart, what with contracts, wages, transfers, agents etc.? Just think about the shenanigans that go on in the soccer world year in, year out, note the differences between GAA and soccer organisations, and compare how football & hurling would be affected by a dramatic increase in player power and related issues.
