Celtic court McCourt!
Celtic Court McCourt!
Derry city and Northern Ireland International Patrick McCourt has arrived in Glasgow for signing talks over a possible £250,000 move to Scotland’s 'three in a row' league champions. McCourt has been tracked for months by former Celtic defender and West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray.
Reports suggest McCourt was close to signing on at the Hawthorns, but it seems an eleventh hour Celtic move has pulled the rug out from under Mowbray. Within hours of hearing of Celtic’s interest McCourt was pictured entering Celtic Park for signing talks and a medical.

At the age of 24, McCourt hopes to follow in the footsteps of many other League of Ireland players who have made a successful impact at a higher level. Probably the most notable In recent years has been Kevin Doyle, a standout for Reading after his £78,000 move from League of Ireland side Cork City.
McCourt, known to fans of Derry City as "Paddy", is known as one of the most talented players in the League of Ireland and with his dazzling array of skills he can break down even the strongest of defences.
From reports and pictures McCourt looks set to become Gordon Strachan’s first acquisition of the season. "Paddy” will not be the last new name to arrive at Celtic Park this summer, but there is every likelihood that this deal may prove to be one of the shrewdest.
